NHL Betting Parlay: Repeat Performances, Feb. 20

NHL Betting Parlay

We’ve seen most of these NHL matchups before and we have a good idea on who’s going to come out on top. When you’re playing the same team more times than you visit your relatives, this familiarity can make some games easier. But not everything is cut and dry in this way.

Still, these repeat matchups have the favorites with a clear edge. You can find most of these NHL odds from the BetUS online sportsbook. I’m getting a sense of deja vu here, but on we go.

Washington Ousts the Rangers

Washington has been a money train this season with an 8-4-3 record and a shiny 8-5 puck line record. Despite allowing the sixth-most goals in the NHL, the Capitals are scoring so easily that it doesn’t matter what the score is.

That’s not the case with the Rangers. They join their Western New York counterparts, the Sabres, in being the two worst offensive teams in the division. For all the talent New York has, they can’t finish on their chances. With a 12.1 percent scoring chance shooting percent (sc SH%), the Rangers are fourth-worst in the league.

New York may have a slight edge in net and on defense, but the Capitals have a bigger edge in scoring. They rank in the top-five in most scoring categories including power play and sc SH%. It’s lights out.

Washington gets this done in style.

Pick: Washington Capitals to win

Blue Jackets Defeat Predators Again

Columbus drew a line on Thursday when it blanked the Predators 3-0. Both teams are trending different directions with the Blue Jackets using its newfound offense to make a run for a top-four spot while the Preds are licking their wounds on their way to finishing in the bottom two.

The online sports betting odds still have this as a close matchup but this is a game the Blue Jackets should win. They’ve been inconsistent, but they’ve won four of their last seven and two of those losses came against the Hurricanes.

Columbus has scored the fifth-most goals per game this month (3.63) while Nashville has scored the sixth-fewest (2). Both teams have allowed around four goals a game, not the best.

At least the BJ’s can score and that’s enough for me to pick them here.

Pick: Columbus Blue Jackets to win

Blues Deafen the Sharks

Speaking of teams incapable of scoring, are you seeing a trend here? For as bad as the Rangers and Preds have been, the Sharks are just as bad if not worse. San Jose has continued to decline as a franchise with everything but their main forwards seemingly shrinking.

The Sharks rank in the bottom-third of the league in sc SH% and scoring chance for percent (SCF%) while the Blues are a top-four team in both metrics. There’s also the difference in goal.

Martin Jones has generally checked out of games for San Jose. He’ll put up a good game or two in exchange for two bad ones. Jordan Binnington hasn’t exactly been Vezina-worthy, but he’s still much better than Jones.

St. Louis should beat San Jose more definitively this time.

Pick: St. Louis Blues to win

Parlay: Capitals to win, Blue Jackets to win, and Blues to win

With this strange NHL season, there seems to be two tiers of teams: those who can score easily and those who can’t. This NHL betting parlay reflects that with three favorites looking to win on the strength of their goal scoring.

Alternatively, there are nearly a dozen NHL games this Saturday. Find all of them from the BetUS online sportsbook. Read the sportsbook reviews and learn how to maximize your wagers.
