NHL Parlay: Bet Top Stanley Cup Contenders on Saturday

Betting parlays is always a difficult proposition. There are plenty of “tips” on how to build a “winning parlay.” We don’t have a silver bullet for this, but one principle is to bet on the best teams in their matchups. More often than not, the better team beats the worse team. This Saturday, we key on three Stanley Cup contenders for our best NHL bets for a parlay.

1. Bruins Outdo the Flyers – Boston (-180)

We trust the Bruins to be a consistently great team defensively. They held five of their last six opponents to two goals or fewer including Toronto (twice) and Edmonton. If they can do this to these elite offenses, they should do the same to Philadelphia. The Flyers average just under three goals per game.

But it’s also about the matchup. Philadelphia is a defensive team that will need to hold teams to three goals or fewer to win. Boston happens to be better at doing this style. It’s why Boston has beaten Philadelphia in six of its last seven home games. And we don’t see a need to go contrarian here.

Philadelphia has averaged 2.4 goals in its last 10 games against Boston. And this team is not winning with a tepid offense like this. Bet online on the Bruins to neutralize the Flyers and win a low-scoring matchup as the =5½ total indicates.

2. Canucks Wipe out the Capitals – Vancouver (-230)

Vancouver should also have no issues beating Washington. The Canucks have consistently been one of the better teams. They are 27-20 (27-15-5) as a favorite and are 9-4 (9-2-2) against Eastern Conference opponents at home. Even without star goaltender Thatcher Demko, the Canucks continue to roll.

We don’t see them slowing against the offensively challenged Capitals. Washington is ranked 29th in goals (2.5) and shots on goals (25.8) when playing on the road. These numbers won’t cut it against Vancouver, especially when it averages 3.7 goals as a host.

Even if Casey DeSmith falls apart in goal, Vancouver can still rally and outscore Washington. Betting online on Vancouver or its puck line at -1½ are both solid picks for our parlay. The Canucks should win comfortably and will be the anchor to this parlay.

3. Colorado Edges Edmonton – Colorado +1½ (-210)

Speaking of the puck line, we’re adding Colorado to cap off this parlay. Technically, the Avalanche are the underdogs against the Oilers. But our NHL bet predictions have them edging Edmonton or playing it close at worst. Colorado hasexceeds evenf its last five games in Edmonton and is 3-2 as an underdog against conference foes.

The Oilers have been holding it down defensively lately. But if you look at the caliber of their opponents, none are quite on the same level as the Avalanche. Edmonton lost 6-5 to Boston, 6-3 to St. Louis, and 4-0 to Los Angeles. While it did beat Dallas, the Oilers have shown vulnerability against playoff-caliber opponents.

And Colorado is more than a playoff contender. The Avalanche have short NHL odds to recapture the Stanley Cup. This team is also on fire as Nathan MacKinnon looks hell-bent on capturing the Hart Trophy with a scoring pace that exceeds Connor McDavid. Bet the Avalanche to cover here.
