3 Best Bets for NHL On Saturday 11/9
1. Canadiens vs Maple Leafs: Toronto Torches Slumping Montreal
Things have gotten awful for the Montreal Canadiens with a five-game losing skid. And it gets worse as they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
It shouldn’t matter that Toronto is playing on the second night of a back-to-back. But because it does, we get that its NHL lines are at a bit of a discount here. Toronto should light Montreal up.

The Maple Leafs are beginning to shape up even without superstar Auston Matthews, who was placed on injured reserve as the most significant of any Canadiens vs Maple Leafs injuries. One may even say they’re better without him, as Toronto is 35-19-2 all-time without Matthews.
Montreal would offer Nick Suzuki on an altar to sniff this record. As it stands, the Canadiens have lost five straight games in Toronto while the Maple Leafs have won four of their last five home games.
Montreal will also have to contend with Joseph Woll. Toronto’s backup goalie stopped 29 of Montreal’s 30 shots back in 2023. He may be a bit rusty to start this season, but he’ll get more help from his skaters than whoever Montreal has in net.
The Maple Leafs outdo the Canadiens on both 5-on-5 and special teams. Bet online on Toronto win by two-plus goals.
Bet On Toronto -1.5 vs Montreal (+120)
2. Hurricanes vs Avalanche: Scoring Goes Boom in Colorado
The over has been one of the hot NHL predictions when Colorado plays. The Avalanche have consistently seen high scores due to a prolific offense met by shoddy goaltending.
That should continue when they host the Hurricanes on Saturday night. Carolina is averaging over four goals per game while leading the NHL in shots per game (35.9).
Not to be outdone, Colorado is putting up over 3.5 goals per game with the NHL’s second-best power play at a whopping 37%. It shouldn’t matter that Carolina is one of the best two-way teams in the league. Colorado scores at will as long as Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar stay hot.
Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar kept rolling to start 2024-25 as they each recorded a point in their 13th straight game to begin the season and joined a rare list of teammates in NHL history.#NHLStats: https://t.co/YiXa01oX3C pic.twitter.com/WHjYmjY05J

Colorado has scored three or more goals in nine of its 14 games. On the flip side, the Avalanche has also given up three or more goals in all but four games. Its goaltending is awful regardless of who’s in net. The total should go over, as Colorado’s last eight home games have proven.
Bet On Carolina vs Colorado Over 6.5 (-115)
3. Oilers vs Canucks: Bank on the Oiler Killer in J.T. Miller
All eyes will be on Connor McDavid as he continues his resurrection tour. But McDavid won’t be the star in this Oilers vs Canucks matchup: It will be J.T. Miller.
The Canucks center has scored six goals in his last seven regular-season matchups versus Vancouver. In the playoffs last season, he had some clutch goals, and he’s worth a bet to score here.

The Oilers are off to another brutal start and their defensive woes are on full display. Edmonton is ranked dead last on the penalty kill at just 59.4%.
And neither goaltender is playing too well to account for Edmonton’s brutal penalty kill stats. Vancouver has a decent power play and can exploit this weakness.
Miller is a fixture on the power play even if he’s lacking on the production side this season. But a date with his favorite rival should make him a solid pick when you’re doing your online sports betting.
Bet On J.T. Miller 1+ Goals (+200)
