Oilers Roll to a 2-1 Lead
The Edmonton Oilers rolled to an impressive 8-2 victory on Friday night to improve to a 2-1 lead in the series while reclaiming back home-ice advantage in the process.
The game itself was nowhere near as lopsided as the final score would suggest. The Kings made a fight f it, but the Oilers found the back of the net more often and that was ultimately the difference-maker in this fast-paced thriller.
The Kings outshot the Oilers 46-37 and created plenty of opportunities. Everything else, arguably, the Oilers did better, including fashioning better and more quality shots on goal.
A lot of the credit must go to Edmonton’s netminder Mike Smith, who had one of his best games. Unfortunately, his counterpart didn’t fare well. Kings’ goalie Jonathan Quick allowed four goals on 17 shots, forcing the Kings to make a change between the posts as a result.
Evander Kane had a hat trick, Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each scored twice and Leon Draisaitl scored once in what must be Edmonton’s best offensive performance of these playoffs.
The win marked the second straight win in this series for the blue and orange. The Oilers dropped the first game of the series 4-3, but won the ensuing two games by a combined score of 14-2.

Kings Hit New Betting Nadir
The Los Angeles Kings sent shockwaves through hockey betting markets after upsetting the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in game 1. The victory prompted bookmakers to reassess the overarching market outlook for this series.
NHL series prices at BetUS opened with the Oilers favored at -240 and at the same time the Kings disadvantaged at +200 to win the series.
Going into Game 2, the Oilers saw their odds drop to -115. By that same token, the Kings improved to -105. But just as quick as a pendulum swings, the Oilers jumped back out in front.
The inspired 6-0 shutout of the Kings in Game 2 was all it took for markets to revert back to their initial series outlook. The Oilers improved to -220 while the Kings dropped back to +180.
Now, following the most recent win, the Oilers are heavily favored to win this series with odds of -650. The Kings, by contrast, are huge longshots at +475, marking a new nadir.

Oilers vs Kings Prediction
Betting on the Edmonton Oilers to win Game 4 makes a lot of sense. Its obvious that they have the momentum at the moment, going up 2-1 in this series. What’s more, they’ve got a verve and swagger about themselves with confidence reaching a high, offense clicking at all cylinders and ear-to-ear smiles in their post-game interviews.
The Kings, by contrast, have lost their way in the last two games. That has a lot to do with the unpredictability of Jonathan Quick. The Kings netminder looked good in Game 1, but his subsequent accounts leave much to be desired.
Another key area that has letdown the Kings is the powerplay. They have yet to score on Mike Smith with the man-advantage. They absolutely have to get the powerplay going, if only to take some of the pressure of the defense.
The good news for Los Angeles is that this series isn’t over yet, but the Kings absolutely must-win Game 4. The pressure to win Sunday’s clash at Crypto.com couldn’t be any greater.
By all accounts, Edmonton look like the smart bet to win, but this is a tricky matchup reaching a pivotal point in the series. The Kings could win and level this series too, making them worth consideration for NHL picks.
For those concerned about backing the so-called “wrong horse,” the alternative is to bet the total. Given that this series has served up three straight OVERs already and a whopping 23 goals combined, it’s quite likely this game will deliver another high-scoring affair.
Pick: Los Angeles Kings +135
Pick: Over 6½ (-125)
