Oilers Favored Yet Again
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a 5-4 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Place, slipping behind 3-2 in their first-round playoff series with their Pacific Division rivals.
Game 6 is a must-win game for the highly fancied Oilers. Bookmakers are tipping Edmonton, once again, as the team to beat. But with Thursday’s contest set to get underway at Crypto.com, the Kings will be looking to bank on home-ice advantage and wrap up the series in front of a sellout crowd.

Oilers Fall in OT
Despite putting up a good fight at Rogers Place, the Edmonton Oilers succumbed to the disappointing 5-4 loss in overtime. The Oilers were the firm home favorites to win Game 5 but they failed to deliver on their betting online odds.
The Oilers closed as the -210 favorites at BetUS, the Kings closed as the +175 road underdogs and the total was projected to 6½.
Going into Game 6, the Oilers are once again favored at the sportsbook exchange, albeit at slightly lower odds of -145 on the moneyline. The Kings are priced at +125 and the total is projected to 6½ with the UNDER favored at -115.
Interestingly, NHL prices paint a totally different outlook. In this market, the Kings are the overwhelming favorites at -170 to clinch the series. The Oilers, by contrast, are priced at +150.

Are Kings Getting Respect They Deserve?
The Los Angeles Kings bounced back in a big way in Game 4, beating the Oilers 4-0 at Crypto, com. They then backed it up with a win in Game 5 to take this series by the scruff of its neck. It marked their second win at Rogers Place of this series but the most important one yet.
Adrian Kempe scored barely a minute into overtime to lift the Kings to the 5-4 win, stunning Rogers Place into total silence.
The Kings got off to a fast start and were in the ascendancy right out of the gates. They never trailed in the game, despite repeated attempts by the hosts to draw level.
Of course, with the game level at 4-4, the Oilers had the momentum going into overtime. The manner in which they leveled the game as well, by reeling off two goals late in the third period, rattled Los Angeles. Some might say they had the Kings on the ropes.
Whatever Kings coach McLellan said during the break, however, must have been inspiring because LA regrouped admirably and came out with purpose and intensity in overtime. They didn’t faff about either, going for the coup de grace blow before the Oilers had a chance to settle into the flow of the fourth period.

Oilers vs Kings Prediction
The Los Angeles Kings are in ascendancy. They’re one win away from coming through with the victory and serving up the first big upset of the NHL playoffs.
How the Kings are priced at the disadvantage in moneyline betting markets here is somewhat surprising.
Winning Game 5 was a huge boost for the Kings and it should send them back to Los Angeles with measured confidence and optimism. Indeed, LA’s best shot to move on in the postseason is to win at home on Thursday night.
Granted the Oilers will be incentivized to win too. They must go big or go home! The question is whether the Oilers can overcome their tendency to falter in the postseason.
The betting markets don’t seem to be sold on the Kings for Game 6, but we’re jumping on the implied value on the moneyline and taking a flyer on the Kings.
