Oilers vs Panthers Game 7: Who Else Other Than Barkov or McDavid?

The big names will be prominent when the Florida Panthers host the Edmonton Oilers to decide the 2023-24 Stanley Cup on Monday night, but there is often an unlikely Game 7 hero you can make money on in your NHL betting.

Edmonton superstar Connor McDavid, who has 11 points in the series, and Florida’s dominant two-way center Aleksander Barkov will have all eyes on them for the last game of the season. But who else will emerge under the bright lights?

Max Talbot scored twice for Pittsburgh to beat Detroit in 2009, Ruslan Fedetenko had both goals for Tampa Bay to top Calgary in 2004 and fourth-liner Mike Rupp recorded three points for New Jersey to beat Anaheim in 2003. They were all Game 7 heroes with value odds..

Then, there is Justin Williams. He registered seven goals in nine career playoff Game 7s, including one for Carolina in the 2006 finals versus Edmonton. He was nicknamed Mr. Game 7. Can someone take that name on Monday?

We think the under-the-radar value picks for that possibility are Florida center Anton Lundell, and bottom-six forwards Adam Henrique and Ryan McLeod of the Oilers.

Expect goals to be precious. Even though over bettors have cashed the last four games of the series, five or fewer goals have been scored in the last 14 Cup final Game 7s.

Bet Barkov Makes Statement

McDavid is a big favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP win or lose Monday, but Barkov has one more game to change minds.

Barkov is tied with Matthew Tkachuk for the team lead at 22 points in the playoffs and is often on the ice against McDavid. The Oilers’ leader tops everyone with 42 points in the playoffs – 10 more than anyone else – and is -3000 in the NHL odds to win the Smythe .

The case for Barkov, who is currently +1200 to win the Smythe, to win is if he has one more big effort in a Panthers win. He was the best player on the ice for Florida in the 5-1 Game 6 loss that looked worse after two empty-net goals.

You have to get 3+ points from McDavid to get value (+245), although +140 for a goal from the 27-year-old isn’t bad. A goal from Barkov gives you +275 odds and +400 for 2+ assists. Put some money on the Florida captain.

Lundell Line Could Cash In

The top two lines for each team might cancel each other out through 60 minutes while a bottom-six forward makes a big play to win it.

Lundell does not have a goal in the series, but owns four assists and looked mighty dangerous in Game 6 with six attempted shots. Linemate Vladimir Tarasenko has three goals in his last seven games as well. Lundell is +400 to score, and +124 at the BetUS sportsbook to post at least one point.

Sam Reinhart has the lowest odds to score in Game 7 for Florida (+160) while struggling Carter Verhaeghe and Tkachuk are +200.. Tarasenko, who scored three goals in the finals with St. Louis in 2019, is +350 to score and leads the Panthers with 17 shots in the series.

Bottom Six Crucial For Oilers

One of the big reasons Edmonton is in this position is the Oilers have become more than their top players.

McDavid did not have a shot or a point in Game 6. Star center Leon Draisaitl does not have a goal in the series. Thirteen players have a goal in the series and 16 have at least two points.

Warren Foegele was recently moved to McDavid’s line and has five points in the series while McLeod is tied with McDavid at three goals. Adam Henrique, acquired from Anaheim in March, has two goals and an assist in the series after being injured earlier in the postseason.

Henrique is +500 and McLeod +600 to score in Game 7. Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard, who has five assists in the series, is +350 to score as well.
