Oof. We, along with the Edmonton Oilers, took a big fat ‘L’ in Game 3. It was the first lopsided result in this series as Florida broke up Edmonton, which also culminated in an all-out brawl. The NHL game odds don’t look good for Edmonton, which has seemingly devolved into a Florida-style game. But we remain faithful to the Oilers as we will see their best with a must-win Game 4.

Oilers vs Panthers Prediction

Our last NHL predictions didn’t do so hot. Now, we’ll go for a bolder take: Edmonton keeps Florida to two goals or fewer. Florida did score two goals or fewer in its last two Game 4s, both of which went under the total. As shaky as they were, back Stuart Skinner and Edmonton’s defense to bounce back emphatically.

• Oilers G Sergei Bobrovsky Under 26.5 Saves (+110)

We backed the wrong goalie in Game 3. But Sergei Bobrovsky can’t have two straight dominant games, can he? Not when we also expect Edmonton’s dynamic duo to roar back to life. Bobrovsky has averaged 38.7 saves in this series when he’s only had 21.9 in the 17 NHL games prior. He’s due to get lit up.

• Oilers F Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Points (-109)

Connor McDavid was held off the scoresheet for only the third time this postseason. That is unlikely to happen again, and this time, he’ll score two or more points as he’s done in 11 of Edmonton’s 19 playoff games this year. We’ll go back to his NHL prop today and bet it to go over.

Oilers F Leon Draisaitl 1+ Goals (-125)

McDavid can’t do it alone. He’ll need Leon Draisaitl to get back to his goal-scoring ways. The German superstar has scored 10 goals in these playoffs, and Edmonton has won four of its last six when he does. Given the chippy nature, we expect penalties and plenty of power play opportunity for him and McDavid. Bet him to score.

The ‘over’ has cashed in all three games this series and now in five straight meetings between these teams. But the Panthers are bound to slow down as they did last year’s Final, scoring just seven goals in the final four games. Edmonton also held Florida to just 31 shots in Game 3. Skinner will be better, or another benching will be on NHL news.

Back Edmonton or pass. A knee-jerk reaction would be to bet on Florida because of the one-sided game. But this Edmonton team is better than last year’s, which nearly came back from a 3-0 series deficit. On top of that, we won’t see McDavid and Draisaitl shut out for two straight games. Bet on Edmonton on the moneyline and maybe on NHL futures.
