Vegas Favored To Draw First Blood in the Stanley Cup Final
At long last, it is the Stanley Cup Finals. And as the NHL lines have it, the higher-seeded Vegas Golden Knights are slightly favored to take Game 1. Like Florida, Vegas has been scoring at will. Adin Hill could also match Sergei Bobrovsky in net. Vegas has also not lost to Florida at home. But the Panthers are looming large as road underdogs again.
Panthers Take the Hunt on the Road
If you’re looking for consistency, Florida will be lined as underdogs for the 15th time this postseason. The Panthers have never been favored as a visitor even if they are 8-1 with their only loss coming to Boston when it was still Alex Lyon in goal.
Bobrovsky is not only undefeated on the road (7-0) but has not allowed more than a pair of goals since the Boston series. In fact, in all these games, “Bobs” made at least 36 saves. This includes the quadruple overtime game where he stopped 63 of Carolina’s 65 shots.

Add the clutch scoring from the likes of Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Reinhart and you have the recipe for Florida’s success. Now, they just need to do this and get four more wins. At their current online sports betting odds, it’s worth a bet they can.
Golden Knights Are the Panthers’ Match
Florida has evolved into becoming a complete hockey team this postseason. They have four lines that push the pace and can generate and capitalize on scoring chances. Plus, their goaltender is playing like he’s the best in the world. You can take this sentence and replace Florida with Vegas and it still mostly rings true.
Hill may not have the appeal of Bobrovsky right now. But he’s been just as great this postseason. Against Connor McDavid and the NHL’s most potent offense, he put up a 93.4 save percentage. Then he shut out Dallas twice in their own arena. His elevated play has Vegas as a profitable NHL picks thus far.
But if Vegas does have a weakness, it would its special teams. The Knights have a -7 goal differential on special teams despite being +8 in power play opportunities. They are killing just 63 percent of their penalties. That could be an issue against the Panthers, who have scored a quarter of their goals via the man advantage.
