Panthers vs Golden Knights Game 5 Props & Live Betting Tips

Florida, Vegas Must Let It All Go

This much is obvious: the Florida Panthers will come at the Vegas Golden Knights like dangerous wounded animals. With their season on the line, Florida will play like it has nothing to lose. That can work for and against them if Vegas can exploit their aggression and capitalize on mistakes. Using the NHL lines’ props, here is how Game 5 could play out.

Marchessault’s Revenge Continues

Jonathan Marchessault may claim that his exit from Florida is “water under the bridge” following the 2017 expansion draft. But he’s playing like he’s not over it, as he’s lit up his old team to the tune of four goals and seven points. The Conn Smythe Trophy favorite (-550) will not slow down as he looks to make NHL news by leading the Panthers to the title.

Panthers Won’t Spare the Kitchen Sink

They threw everything but the kitchen sink…” Florida will not spare any shots it can find, even if they are low quality. Adin Hill may just rack up over 40 saves as the Panthers do everything they can to save their season. As such, it’s worth betting online on Florida’s main players, like Aleksander Barkov and Brandon Montourto to go over their shots on goal props.

  • Pick: Aleksander Barkov (FLA) Total Shots on Goal – Over 2½ (-140)
  • Pick: Brandon Montour (FLA) Total Shots on Goal – Over 3½ (+125)

Quick on the Draw

The Panthers will have that “do or die” mentality, which lead to plenty of scoring here. The first goal could be scored early in the contest from either side. For the past three games, someone opened the scoring before the 9:30 mark of the first period. And in Game 1, the only game where it didn’t happen, Marc Staal scored 10 seconds too late.

Free Goals

Should Vegas be up in the third period, expect Florida to pull Sergei Bobrovsky. This will lead to prolonged periods of Vegas having an empty net to score on thus jacking up their score. During this time, a couple of players may get some freebies by hitting that empty net. And on the other end, Florida may score on its 6-on-5. It’s worth a bet online this is the highest-scoring period.

  • Pick: Highest Scoring Period – 3rd Period (+190)

So it’s more than likely that Vegas will be the team scoring the goal last if Florida trails. But on the chance Florida is ahead, Vegas has a plethora of clutch goal-scorers that could even things out. As far as NHL picks go, this is a good one to add for those favoring a fast-and-furious third period.

  • Pick: Team To Score Last – Golden Knights (-140)

Live Betting Pick

The consensus is that this will be a low-scoring game, with most bets on the total to go under six (-120) on the sportsbook. But watch how things play out in the third period. Should Vegas go up in the third, there is a good chance the total goes over even in a 2-1 or 3-1 game. The Panthers will pull the goalie even with several minutes left to play.

The 6-on-5 and empty net can result in several goals being scored in the final minutes of play. This could push the total to go over. Heck, overtime might even be needed, so that’s an extra goal to consider.

  • Pick: Total – Over 6 (Ev)
