NHL Player Props: Go on Offensive with Defensemen

It is win or dust off the golf clubs for reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas as well as the Nashville Predators on Friday. Both teams play at home, needing to win to force a Game 7.

There is plenty of star power on the Golden Knights, the Predators, the Dallas Stars and the Vancouver Canucks to provide those who bet online some tempting player prop options.

Wyatt Johnston delivered on the NHL player prop bets with two assists for Dallas in Game 5 while those who went with Alexandre Carrier to score the game-winning goal for Nashville were rather happy campers.

When looking at NHL odds, Dallas is the slight favorite at -115 in Game 6 against the host Golden Knights while Nashville is priced at -125 to send the series with Vancouver to a Game 7. Both games on Friday have 5½-goal totals.

Keep on reading for some player props to consider in Friday’s two games.

Canucks RW Brock Boeser to score a goal (+179)

Brock Boeser has four goals and one assist in the three games won by Vancouver in this series. He has been held without a point in the two losses.

The last time Vancouver played in Nashville, Boeser had eight shots on goal and he scored three times. It might be asking a bit much for him to match or surpass those numbers in Game 6.

However, the +179 odds for the high-scoring winger to have a goal are pretty enticing.

Predators D Roman Josi to have 2+ points (+199)

After managing just one assist in the first three games of the series, Nashville defenseman and former Norris Trophy winner Roman Josi is starting to heat up.

He scored the game-tying goal in the third period in Game 5 as the Predators avoided being eliminated by Vancouver.

Josi has a goal, an assist, and seven shots on goal over the last three games.

Take a look at the +199 BetUS sportsbook odds for Josi to have at least two points as well as the +150 odds for him to record at least four shots on goal.

Stars D Thomas Harley to have 1+ Points (+144)

Dallas wouldn’t be the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs without the play of 22-year-old defenseman Thomas Harley.

After having 15 goals, 32 assists and a +28 defensive rating in the regular season, Harley has no goals, no assists and his plus/minus rating is also at zero.

Harley has just two shots on goal over the last three games. That matches his lowest three-game output of the season, when he had two shots on goal in the first three games of the regular season.

With Dallas having a chance to eliminate the defending champions, look for Harley to play a key role and go with the +144 odds to have at least one point.

Golden Knights Defenseman Noah Hanifin to have 1+ Points (+106)

These are the types of games that Noah Hanifin was brought to the Golden Knights to play in.

Brayden McNabb has contributed some points while Hanifin had an assist in Game 5.

With 24:32 in average time on ice in the series, there are plenty of opportunities for Hanifin so it will be tempting to roll with him at +106 according to the NHL betting odds to record a point in Game 6.

Dallas Forward Jamie Benn to have 3+ Shots on Goal (+149)

After managing a total of one shot on goal in the previous three games, veteran Dallas forward Jamie Benn had three shots and an assist in the Game 5 win over Vegas to push the reigning Stanley Cup champions to the brink of elimination.

While some younger players have taken starring roles for the Stars, it is worth a shot to go with Benn at +149 to have at least three shots on goal. He has reached that number 11 times in the playoffs over the last three seasons.

Nashville Goalie Juuse Saros to have 26+ Saves (+131)

Nashville has done an outstanding job in insulating goalie Juuse Saros against a Vancouver team that had the fourth-most goals scored among Western Conference teams during the regular season.

Nashville has allowed just 18.4 shots on goal so far in this series and that is easily the lowest mark in the NHL.

With Vancouver having a chance to eliminate the resilient Predators, look for more shots to make it through to Saros in Game 6.

Go with the Nashville goalie to have at least 26 saves.
