The New York Rangers did a phenomenal job of staying alive in this series. They fell behind Carolina 2-0 with back-to-back losses on the road. However, they evened it up Tuesday with a dominant 4-1 win over the Hurricanes in Game 4.
It seems like the home team has had a clear-cut advantage in every game of this series, though this isn’t something that is new for the Hurricanes.

Rangers Have Excellent Home Stretch
These past two games were exactly what the Rangers needed.
Before this two-game winning streak, New York had lost eight out of their last nine games against the Hurricanes.
A number of players stepped in the last few games but Igor Shesterkin is the most notable. The goaltender was on his way to a shutout performance in Game 4 but allowed a late goal in the third period.
Still, he stopped 30 shots with that being his only mistake. Shesterkin has allowed two goals in the last two games and seems to have the Rangers playing with a ton of confidence.
Hurricanes Not a Road Team
Given how they have lost every game that they have played on the road this postseason, it is a fair assumption that they just can’t get the job done when traveling.
However, they are undefeated on their own ice, which gives them the advantage in Game 5.
Carolina needs to get back into what it was doing early in this series. One area that the Hurricanes need to improve upon in particular is their power play. They were unable to convert on either of their chances in Game 4, and are currently 0-for-9 in this series and at 11% for the entire postseason. That isn’t how you get the job done.
