Dynamic Duo Keeps Delivering For Oilers

It has been three straight losses for Edmonton. Oilers coach Dave Tippett said of the most recent loss, “You could tell we were tired a little bit in the third period, but we hung in there.”

Connor McDavid leads the team with 34 assists and 53 points, and while Leon Draisaitl has scored a team-high 25 goals. Both players continue to score for Edmonton, but there just hasn’t been enough offensive help.

The Oilers are comfortable playing in a high-scoring affair as they are scoring 3.38 goals per game. The problem comes at the defensive end of the ice, as Edmonton is giving up nearly the same amount of goals.

Goaltender Mikko Koskinen is 12-6-1 in net but he is allowing too many goals. Edmonton is not playing a loaded offensive team on Monday night, but it still need to get some stops on the defensive end of the ice.

Rangers Relying on Goaltending

The New York Rangers are holding opponents to just 2.52 goals per game, but they also lean on their goaltenders to lead the way. Ian Shesterkin has gone 15-4-2 in net and is allowing just 2.09 goals per game.

Special teams’ play has also been tremendous for the Rangers as they are killing off nearly 85 percent of their penalties. Scoring goals hasn’t come easy for New York, but it is converting 25 percent of its chances on the power play.

Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers with 36 points but he will not be suiting up in this game. The Rangers are scoring just 2.88 goals per game and they must find offense to begin the New Year.

Oilers Shoot Way Past Rangers

The Rangers have done a great job of shutting down opponents all season, but that’s a tall task against the Oilers. Edmonton is desperate to snap this losing streak and will will be cranking up the offense.

McDavid and Draisaitl remain two of the best players in the league, and they will be looking to put on a show at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers just won’t be able to keep up on the offensive end, especially without Panarin on the ice.

Betting against the Rangers hasn’t gone well recently, but Edmonton just has too much offense to be stopped. Head to BetUS Sportsbook and take the Edmonton Oilers -120 over the New York Rangers in this NHL showdown.
