Every Game Counts For Playoff-Hungry Stars
The Dallas Stars are 12th in the league in point percentage and yet it finds itself as the odd man out in the playoff race. But things are trending for Dallas, which is 15-8-1 in 2022. It still has an anemic offense on 5v5 and a subpar penalty-killing unit. Inconsistencies have kept it from its potential, which is a team that is just three years removed from a Stanley Cup Final run.

The emergence of Jason Robertson has been Dallas’s feel-good story. The sophomore is second on the team with 48 points behind Joe Pavelski, whose name was briefly linked in trade talks but appears ready to go all-in with Dallas. The offense has been too dependent on Robertson. The Stars are just 5-7-1 when he fails to record a point.
Dallas has plenty of moving pieces and the team could be both a buyer and a seller at the deadline with plenty of expiring contracts. As they are, they are worth betting online as they hunt for a playoff spot.
Jets Can Still Make a Run
The Winnipeg Jets are another bubble team like Dallas but unlike the Stars, the Jets have a lot more room to cover. It’s still tough to put a fork on this team given how much talent it has. The Jets have an explosive offense and an elite netminder even if both sides have been maddeningly inconsistent.
And yet, despite Winnipeg’s sub-.500 record, the Jets are nearly ten units up on the moneyline (+9.85). This is mostly due to Winnipeg’s online gambling lines being moderately lined. You will rarely see Winnipeg shorter than a 2-1 favorite on most occasions.
Winnipeg’s top priority is to improve its defense and to give Hellebuyck some help. For the fourth straight season, Hellebuyck leads the league in games played, minutes, and shots faced. The man needs a break as his declining numbers, 4-9-3 record and 90.6 save percentage in his last 16 games, indicate.
Dallas Stars at Winnipeg Jets Head-to-Head
The Dallas Stars lead the season series against the Winnipeg Jets, having won two of their three games. However, every game has gone to overtime or a shootout. In their last ten games, Dallas leads 6-2-2 and the total has gone over or pushed seven times (5-3-2).
Dallas Stars at Winnipeg Jets Prediction
The NHL lines are not kidding here. We have two of the more unpredictable teams in the NHL though we have been spot-on picking their games thus far. We lean on Winnipeg here. It has won nine of its last ten home games against Dallas and is 6-2-1 against its division at the Canada Life Centre.
The Stars’ have a solid defense but can struggle scoring, especially outside of the power play. But the Jets can easily score at the expense of giving up goals. So what gives? Five of Winnipeg’s last seven games in the division have gone over as has 60 percent of their home games.
