Minnesota Wild vs Boston Bruins

New Year, New Bruins?

The two-week break seems to have restored Boston’s vitality. As one of the older NHL teams, the Bruins appear to have a set of fresh legs and have throttled their last three opponents, scoring an average of 4.7 goals. Boston is now 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and 4-1-1 as an underdog.

In the last three games, different Bruins have been getting involved in the scoring. From Oskar Steen to Trent Frederic, only the diehards will be able to guess Boston’s goal scorers in 2022. But this team could use it as half of its top players are aging out.

This surge is much needed in Beantown, where the Bruins have fallen quite far from the “Big Three” of its division. The Atlantic Division title may be out of reach, but a strong finish from Boston can land them home-ice advantage for the early rounds of the playoffs.

On a Wild Losing Streak

Has the panic button been pushed in Minnesota? The Wild have now dropped five straight games, including their Winter Classic. What’s more worrying is how Minnesota was the favorite in four of them and how the Wild have allowed six or more goals in three.

To exacerbate their situation, the Wild will be without several important players. Defensemen Jared Spurgeon and Jonas Brodin are out and so are leading goaltender Cam Talbot and top forward Joel Eriksson Ek.

Minnesota has also been outshot and outchanced in these five games. It used to be okay when the Wild were still scoring goals like gangbusters, but the terrible netminding has finally started catching up with Minnesota. The Wild will just have to find a way to keep scoring, though having to score four or more goals to win does not seem sustainable.

Wild vs Bruins Prediction

The Bruins don’t play the Wild too often. But when they do, they usually beat them up (sometimes literally). Boston has won six straight games against the Wild with an average winning margin of 2.7 goals. They have gone 4-2 on the puck line when betting online. The last time Minnesota won was back in the 2016-17 season with only three players from the current roster on the team.

Boston is on a roll and has a significant advantage in net and on special teams, where Minnesota has failed to score a power-play goal in all but two games in the last 10 meetings.

Pick: Boston Bruins -170

Minnesota has been one of the best teams to bet the over on thanks to its fast-paced style, producing plenty of goals on both ends. But the Bruins have the remedy for that as four of their last six home games have gone under on the sportsbook.

Pick: Under 6 (Ev)

Parlay: Boston Bruins and Under 6 (245)
