Bet on US Open Golf Tournament 2022

U.S. Open 2022 | Golf Picks, Predictions & Best Betting Odds

The US Open is a prestigious golf tournament played in the United States each summer – usually in the third week of June.

The 2022 US Open will take place at The Country Club in Brookline, which is located in Massachusetts – only the tenth time the tournament has been hosted in the state. It will be the first time in 34 years that any golf major will take place in the Boston area.

The date for the 2022 US Open Championship is June 16th to 19th, 2022.

The US Open is the third of the four majors and is a difficult 72-hole stroke play tournament. The tournament is put on by the USGA (United States Golf Association) and has a rich history showcasing the top golf talent.

The US Open began in 1895 at the Newport Country Club in Rhode Island and consisted of a single-day event over 36 holes. There were only ten professional competitors and a single amateur in that first year. British golfers tended to excel at the US Open, until 1911, when the first American competitor took home the title: John McDermott.

The tournament has now 121 editions to date and boasts a $12.5 million dollar purse, which is the largest purse in the Majors. Winning the US Open Championship not only will bring huge financial gain, but any US Open champion will be invited to play at all major championships for the next five years, and will not need to qualify for any US Open for the next ten years.

Past US Open Champions

2021 – Jon Rahm
2020 – Bryson DeChambeau
2019 – Gary Woodland
2018 – Brooks Koepka
2017 – Brooks Koepka
2016 – Dustin Johnson
2015 – Jordan Spieth
2014 – Martin Kaymer
2013 – Justin Rose
2012 – Webb Simpson
2011 – Rory McIlroy

The Country Club of Brookline

Having the US Open finally return to the Boston area for the first time in 34 years will make for an exciting week. The Country Club of Brookline is one of the five clubs that were a part of founding the USGA back in 1894. This will be only the fourth time that the tournament has been played at such a monumental and historical golf club.
The course was built in 1893, which also housed a race track, horseback riding courses, and more. The course started small – only six holes to start, then grew to a full 18-hole course by 1899. The main course features the Clyde and Squirrel nines, which are the original 18 holes that were completed in 1899, and then the Championship or Open course will be used for the 2022 US Open. However, this course will be altered for the upcoming US Open, removing the par 4 fourth hole and adding the par 3 12th hole.

Betting on US Open Odds

When it comes to betting on the US Open or betting on US Open odds, it’s important to remember that golf betting only has so many betting options – so you need to do your research. Having a solid US Open betting strategy will help you determine how to make the most of the tournament schedule – that includes betting on futures, head-to-head wagers and even using parlay wagers throughout the day.

Following your favorite players and researching the golf course itself will help you in the long run on your US Open betting strategy. The course itself will be a huge factor in whether a golfer will excel or not as they’re all different. If a golfer has played at the course before, you can look at their past performances on that specific course – however, we don’t see this being a factor for the 2022 US Open as the tournament has not been played at The Country Club of Brookline in 34 years.

Take a chance on a futures wager, as you never really know what could happen and you could make some big money by betting on an unlikely underdog with some big US Open golf odds. Regardless if a player is favored or not, you can get great value betting on US Open futures.

Look at Jon Rahm, in May 2021, he was favored to win the tournament at +1050, though his odds fluctuated slightly leading up to the tournament – all the way down to +350, then on the last day of the tournament they shot back up to +1050, as other players like Louis Oosthuizen and Bryson DeChambeau looked like they would take the tournament. Rahm bettors had a hefty payday if they put any money at the start or at the last minute, as the value was high.

US open golf odds can change at the drop of the hat – at this level of competition, one bad putt can really affect how a player is valued from a betting perspective!

Learn How to Bet on the US Open Golf 2022

When it comes to betting on the US Open Golf Championship, you can choose from a variety of golf betting options that are easy to understand. Betting on the US Open makes the weekend even more exciting as you have a little money riding on the outcome.

Understanding US Open odds are an important part of your US Open strategy, and luckily, they’re easy to understand. The odds are displayed in three different formats on the BetUS Sportsbook, and you can choose whichever format you prefer. You can choose from American US Open odds, Decimal US Open odds, or Fractional US Open odds.

First, it’s important to understand the US Open betting options and odds before placing any wagers. We will go through the popular betting options and give examples to help you with your US Open betting strategy.

US Open Futures

US Open futures wagers are easily the most simple bet you can place, as you are simply picking the outright winner of the tournament. That’s all there is to it – pick a winner from the list of competitors in the tournament. However, there are 156 competitors at each US Open, and this can be a tricky bet to place.

You can place these wagers months in advance – as soon as the players qualify for the tournament their odds will be listed. The odds will fluctuate and change as the tournament gets closer and as it’s underway, but you can still get a great value on an underdog.

If you like Brooks Koepka to win the 2022 US Open and his odds are set at +600 to win, you could place a wager on him before his odds start to improve, you could win $600 on a $100 wager.

Betting on US Open futures is extremely difficult, as there are plenty of competitors in the tournament. Usually, huge underdogs don’t wind up winning, but anything is possible.

US Open Each Way Bet

If you want to bet on a certain golfer but you aren’t sure if they will actually win, you can place an each-way bet, which allows you some margin of error. You can pick your player to win, but if they also place in the top five you can still win. Each way refers to as, you’re placing a wager to win outright, but also if they place in the top five, you will still win a reduced amount.

It’s essentially two wagers rolled into one.

If you like Brooks Koepka at +600 still, and you have $40 to bet on him to win, you could place an each-way bet at $20, which would double down your wager to your budgeted $40, and if Koepka wins, you would win $184, but if he only places third, you’d only win $44. Better than nothing!

US Open Group Betting

A common betting type you can place during the US Open is group betting. Many players have similar styles of play, or are compared to one another in a variety of different groupings. They could be grouped by country, which way they shoot, or similar playing styles.

Our oddsmakers will group players in the tournament and you are essentially picking the winner out of that group (who will have the best score). You could bet on the best American player, the best European player, the best left-handed player. This is much easier than betting the outright winner of the tournament as there are far fewer options and the odds will be more in your favor.

You can also bet on head-to-head groupings, which are two players that are paired up to compete against one another. You can select which player out of the two that will have the best score. These players will likely have commonalities or similar playing styles or scores. They don’t have to be competing directly with their opponent in the actual tournament either.

If you aren’t feeling any of those entertaining groupings, there are 2-ball and 3-ball groups as well. These are groups of players that are actually playing in a group setting at the tournament that is chosen by the tournament organizers.

At the US Open, the groups start in groups of three, which would be 3-ball, and then move on to groups of two, which is 2-ball. Don’t confuse 2-ball with head-to-head, as 2-ball is within their committee assigned group, and head-to-head can be chosen by our oddsmakers.
