Man City Huge Favorite to Retain the Title
For the third time in a row, Manchester City won the Premier League title in 2023. Last year, they finished five points above Arsenal with 94 goals scored and 33 conceded. This is comparable to their past title-winning seasons when they were 29-6-3 in 2022 and 27-5-6 in 2021. The EPL title win was one of many wins for the Cytizens in 2023, also winning the FA Cup and Champions League on their way to a treble-winning year.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were not as dominant as they have been in previous years, but they ended the season in fine form. A run of 16 Premier League games without defeat allowed City to get over the line with three games to spare, giving them plenty of preparation time ahead of winning the FA Cup and Champions League to complete the treble.
Striker Erling Haaland bagged 36 league goals to help City along the way, and he could improve even further in his second season in the Premier League. City’s team could look a little different this term with Ilkay Gundogan having departed for Barcelona, while Bernardo Silva is regularly linked with a move away.
Mateo Kovacic has joined from Chelsea to freshen up the midfield and City are expected to make further additions before the new season begins. A new centre-back is on Guardiola’s wishlist and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol has been strongly linked with a move to the Etihad. City remains short-priced favorites to win what would be a fourth straight Premier League title at -160 according to the latest soccer odds so there’s no value in backing them.
Arsenal Second Favorites
Arsenal enjoyed a superb 2022/23 season but unfortunately fell short when it mattered most. However, the improvement under Mikel Arteta was significant, meaning they have every chance of being in the mix once again. The Gunners have plenty of world-class players in the squad and they should have no problem in attracting some of the biggest names to The Emirates this summer, including Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, who already signed.
Arsenal is currently priced at +700 to get their hands on the trophy and is showing ambition in the summer transfer window but we won’t include them in our soccer picks and parlays. Folarin Balogun, who poured in 21 goals in 37 appearances for Reims, is back with the team. The likes of Jurrien Timber, Roméo Lavia, Aymeric Laporte, and Joao Cancelo are rumored to join Arsenal.
Liverpool Third Favorites
Despite a much-improved run-in, the Reds still failed to finish in the top four last season, which was a big disappointment. Liverpool is priced at +800, having won the 2019/20 title to break up Guardiola’s dominance. They will be without Champions League football for the first time since 2015 after finishing fifth so they can focus on the domestic league games.
They have already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively but Jurgen Klopp will not stop with the recruitment. He will surely add some more top players as he will be eager to win another title. If you’re betting online, backing Liverpool should be the way to go.
Chelsea Must Adapt Under Mauricio Pochettino
Chelsea needs Mauricio Pochettino to work out. Sure there are questions about the atmosphere in the dressing room but Pochettino’s going to have the rule of the roost from the first moment of preseason and he’ll have had lots of time to anticipate squad needs.
Chelsea’s owners are happy to keep spending with French forward Christopher Nkunku joining from RB Leipzig and Nicolas Jackson joining from Villarreal. It would take an incredible few months for the Blues to turn it around in time, but they are still expected to do better this season. They are priced at +1200 according to the latest soccer odds.
EPL 2022-23 | Manchester City Top Scorers

How does the EPL transfer window work?
Once the club season comes to an end, managers are allowed to sign new players and sell players, usually, based on the squad requirements managers observed in the previous season. In football, this process is referred to as the “transfer window”.
During summer, the main transfer window takes place and opens for two months and a half. The Premier League deadline is September 1st, 2023.
In addition to the summer transfer window, there is a winter window as well which runs through January. The Premier League will close the winter transfer window on January 31st, as usual.
Bet on the English Premier League
Learn How to Bet on the Premier League Odds
Betting on one of the most prestigious and popular soccer leagues can earn you some big money, but only if you know how to properly bet on the English Premier League.
The EPL is also a league that relegates and promotes teams, so the same teams don’t necessarily play in the league each season.
Soccer betting can be a little bit different than betting on other sports as there are a few different betting options.
Three-way Moneyline EPL Betting
If you know all about moneyline betting, you know that moneyline betting is a 50/50 chance of winning between two teams. Three-way moneylines add in a third option – the tie, or draw – that adds another option and makes the bet a little riskier. Since soccer games can end in a draw, you could make some great money by taking the risk – draws usually have higher underdog odds.
So, you have three options to choose from: Team A to win, Team B to win or the draw.
Manchester City -180
Leeds United +400
Draw +300
In this case, Manchester United is the favored team to win this match, and Leeds United is the underdog. If you’re familiar with reading American odds, you will know that the negative sign signifies the underdog, and the number will show how much you’d need to wager to win $100.
The plus symbol indicates an outcome that’s less likely to happen and signifies underdogs as well. The underdog in this situation and the least likely outcome is that Leeds United wins the match. A $100 wager on Leeds United would win you $400 though. The draw has a slightly more likely outcome with +300 odds, which means you could win $300 on a $100 wager.
Point Spread EPL Betting
Point spreads are commonly called ‘goal-line wagers’ in soccer betting because there aren’t points per se, there are goals. Soccer scores are relatively low for the most part – and even more so when you are looking at the top talent in European soccer. The goalline or point spread will give the underdog team a point or two head start before the game even begins.
If you see a point spread of +1.5/-1.5, using the same teams and situation as above, you will know that Manchester City is -1.5, which means they need to win the game by 2 points or more for a bet on them to cash. If you want to bet on Leeds United at +1.5, they will be given the hypothetical head start and they can either win the game by any amount, or lose by one goal.
Totals EPL Betting
Totals betting is another simple betting option for English Premier League that can make you some cash if you pick the right outcome. With totals betting in any sport, you are betting on the total combined score for both teams. So, you add the goals scored by both teams together.
With soccer betting, however, you will see totals in multiples of .25 (2.50, 2.75, 3.0 etc). All this does is add a little more risk, because when there’s only a 3-point total, the over/under would be quite simple.
If you have a total of 3.0 and the final score was 3-2, the over would cash. If the score was 1-1, the under would cash.
Futures Betting on Premier League Odds
The difference between Premier League and other North American sports we know and love is that there are no playoffs or championships, however, there is always a winner at the end of the season. Futures betting on English Premier League allows you to try to predict who wins the title, months in advance.
At the start of the season, we will release English Premier League odds, with each team’s prospective likelihood of winning the title. Each team will have different odds and those odds will fluctuate based on team performance throughout the season.
It’s clear that Manchester City is a heavy favorite to win the 2021 season. Because there is no tournament or series that the teams face off against each other for the title, it does make things a little less exciting toward the end of the season if the clear cut favorite from the start of the season is crushing teams in the league and their record is soaring.
