Baccarat - How to Play
Baccarat is a simple game to play. You make one of three wagers, either on a tie, the banker’s hand or the player’s hand. Once you make your wager, two cards will be dealt for both the banker’s hand and the player’s hand.
The cards are counted. Counting in Baccarat is simple. 10 and face cards are counted as 0. Aces are counted as 1 and all other cards are counted as what they are, a 3 is counted as a 3, a 6 is counted as a 6, etc. Suit doesn’t matter in Baccarat. If the two cards make up a total more than 10, the second digit is counted as the hand. For example, a 6 and 9 is counted as a 5 because 6 plus 9 equals 15.
If the first two cards dealt, to either the player or the banker, equals an 8 or 9, the game is over and payouts are made. An 8 or 9 on the first two cards is called a “natural” win. If the first two cards to the player equals a 0 to 5, then the player hand gets a third card. The player hand stands on totals of 6 or 7.
If the player stands, the banker hand draws from a 0 to 5 and stands with a 6 or 7. See below for what happens when the player hand draws the third card:
-If the player’s third card is 9, 10, face-card or Ace, the banker draws when he has a 0-3, and stays with a 4-7.
-If the player’s third card is 8, the banker draws when he has a 0-2, and stays with a 3-7.
-If the player’s third card is 6 or 7, the banker draws when he has a 0-6, and stays with a 7.
-If the player’s third card is 4 or 5, the banker draws when he has a 0-5, and stays with a 6-7.
-If the player’s third card is 2 or 3, the banker draws when he has a 0-4, and stays with a 5-7.
Baccarat - Bet Types
There are only three types of wagers that you can make in a game of Baccarat. You can bet on the player’s hand, you can bet on the banker’s hand or you can bet on a tie.
Baccarat - Minimum and Maximum Bet Amounts
The minimum bet in Baccarat is $1.
The maximum bet in Baccarat is $100.
Baccarat – Payouts
A tie in Baccarat pays 8 to 1.
The player’s hand in Baccarat pays 1 to 1.
The banker’s hand in Baccarat pays 95% of the bet made. The banker’s hand has a slight edge of winning over the player’s hand. You pay a 5% commission if you win by betting on the banker’s hand.
Baccarat – How to Win
The best way to win at Baccarat is to only bet on the player’s hand. The player’s hand pays back even money, 1 to 1, while the banker’s hand pays back 95% of your bet. The house edge on the banker’s hand is 1.24% while the house edge on the player’s hand is 1.06%. Paying a 5% commission on the banker’s hand doesn’t equate to garnering a .18% edge, which is the edge that you add when betting for the banker instead of the player.
Always bet on the player, or, maybe, once in a while bet on a tie. The house edge on a tie is over 14%, but 8 to 1 is very good odds and ties do occur in Baccarat.

Baccarat – Technically, it means a hand of 0, which is the worst possible hand, in the game of Baccarat. Baccarat itself is a game where a player decides to bet on a tie, a banker’s hand or a player’s hand.
Banker bet – A banker bet is placing a wager that a banker’s hand will beat the player’s hand.
Hands – The cards dealt to the banker and the player during a game of Baccarat. The player and banker each get different hand.
House – Another name for the banker in Baccarat. You can bet on either the player’s hand or the banker’s (house’s) hand winning in a game of Baccarat in the online casino.
Player - In Baccarat, the term player refers to one of three types of wagers. A gambler can “play” a game of Baccarat by betting on either the player’s hand, the banker’s hand, or for a tie.
Tie – A tie occurs in Baccarat when neither the player’s hand nor the banker’s hand wins the game. In the online casino, a tie pays 8 to 1.
