Customs Killed the Vibe

If you’ve ever tried to cross either of the U.S. borders, you know border control can be unreasonably suspicious sometimes. (I’m just trying to get to a hot spring in Mexico, guys. Chill.) But Steve Harvey recently shared a story that proves even celebrities aren’t immune to border drama—especially when they’re rolling up in pink suits and carrying stacks of cash.

On Monday, Steve Harvey made casino news by posting a video to social media of him telling a hilarious story about how the border patrol got in the way of him and Credric the Entertainer living it up at a Canadian casino. “Arrested at the Border with my boy Ced, and let me tell you, it was a whole situation!” he captioned the post.

And what a situation it was.

Casino Dreams Turned Border Patrol Nightmare

After performing at the Arco Arena in Buffalo, NY, Harvey and fellow comedian Cedric the Entertainer decided to keep the night going by heading to Canada to gamble. “We in the limo, me and Ced, we go across the thing, border patrol says, ‘Who are you guys?’” he recalled.

That’s when things took a turn. “They took us inside, started asking us all these questions. And, you know, we just got off stage, we got pink suits on and sh*t, we do look like pimps,” Harvey said to the crowd. Add to that the fact that they had taken their gig payment in a large sum of cash, and suddenly, border patrol was convinced they were up to something shady.

Apparently, the officers weren’t buying the idea that two comedians could be carrying that much money just from telling jokes. “They asked, ‘How do you have this much cash?’ I said, ‘We tell jokes, man. We’re the original kings of comedy; you have no idea how much money we make.’” But even flashing legit checks didn’t help.

The real headache began when border patrol decided to do a deep dive into their backgrounds. “Them motherf*ckers kept us in customs for seven hours,” Harvey said, as his audience gasped. “They did background checks… you can get your records expunged, but not on the federal level. So, whatever you did… the feds can find anything.”

As if that wasn’t bad enough, everyone in the limo apparently had some kind of record (celebrity rumors anyone?). “They were pulling up sh*t I forgot about!” Harvey joked.

Luckily, they were finally released—but after seven grueling hours in custody, the excitement of hitting the slot machines had probably worn off. Harvey didn’t say whether they ever made it to the casino, but chances are not. And even if they had, it wouldn’t have been a smooth ride—literally.

According to Harvey, border patrol tore up the limo so badly during their search that he had to cough up $12,000 in damages to the rental company. Just for trying to play a little blackjack. Infuriating? Completely. But let’s be real—Steve Harvey’s net worth can take a hit like that without breaking a sweat.

Hopefully, after all that, he at least made it to a hotel, kicked back, and logged into an online casino to recoup some of that cash. Everyone deserves a W after a night like that.
