What is Pineapple Poker?
There are many types of poker games, from player-vs-player games like Texas Hold’em and Omaha to house games like Three-Card Poker and Caribbean Stud. Pineapple Poker falls into the former category.
Like Texas Hold’em, it’s played with hole cards and community cards, but as in Five-Card Draw, you can change your initial hand. The main difference is that players get three hole cards and can choose to discard one of them.
Pineapple Poker Rules
Pineapple Poker begins with blinds, and after these are placed, players are dealt three hole cards. Before the flop, they must discard one of their hole cards.
The flop lands, followed by the river and turn, creating five community cards. There are betting rounds at each stage.
Players have the following options:

· Call
· Fold
The winner is the player with the best five-card hand after the final betting round.

Take it Easy
If you’re new to this game, take it easy and play tight for the first few hands.
Watch the other players, analyze a few hands, and learn.
Play for Big Hold’em Hands
A pair of Aces is still the best starting hand, so if you draw A, A, 5, the 5 has to go. By the same token, keep the A, K if you draw A, K, 10, or any other kicker.
Remember the Discarded Cards
Cards are discarded so that they won’t come into play.
If you draw a pair of 6s, you might be tempted to stay in the hand and hope for a set. But if you get those 5s after picking up three of them initially and then discarding one, it means there’s only one 5 left in the deck, reducing your chances of getting three-of-a-kind.
Don’t Limp
Limping into the pot is rarely a good idea in poker, and it’s terrible in Pineapple Poker. Even if you have a good hand, your odds of winning drop for every extra player in the pot.
Other Variants of Pineapple Poker
The rules outlined above relate to standard Pineapple Poker, but other variants exist.
Crazy Pineapple Poker rules dictate that players can discard one of their hole cards after betting on the flop.
In Lazy Pineapple Poker, they can hold onto that card until the end and discard it before the showdown. This “crazy” variant usually means more players are betting/limping into each hand, and it may be more suitable for players who enjoy four/five-card Hold’em variants and video poker online.
