Kamala Before The Storm: Will Democracy Be Trumped

  • The U.S. Presidential election on Tuesday shapes up as a doozy.
  • Donald Trump is a -160 favorite to defeat Kamala Harris (+140) in US Elections picks.
  • No matter which side you’re on, you’re right about everything.
  • The results may not be known for weeks if any shenanigans go down.

Some have likened Tuesday’s U.S. Presidential Election to waiting on the results of a biopsy. Others have threatened to leave the country if their side doesn’t prevail. There is certainly a sense of urgency from Democrats and Republicans alike as candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump battle to the final whistle stop in a race that is featuring wildly fluctuating online betting odds.

Everyone seems to think that the country will go to hell in a bucket if the wrong person wins, and the other person is wrong about everything.

Odds Favor Trump

Trump is the -160 favorite in the presidential odds with Harris listed at +140. These numbers are a bit puzzling with most polls presenting a much closer race. Then again, the polls can be misleading. Just ask Hillary.

Trump saw a surge in betting odds over the past few weeks. He was +120 a few weeks ago and surged to -210 in the polls late last week. The odds dropped to -140 on Sunday before moving back to its current line of -160 in Harris vs Trump betting odds.

Attention President Shoppers: We’re Watching

The attention placed on the election is overwhelming, and bordering on unhealthy with a slew of misleading charges or flat out lies presented on all platforms. It is amazing how much influence social media has worldwide with other nations doing their part to sway the election toward their needs and generally attack democracy.

The TV airwaves in the United States are another factor. Millions of Democrats hang on every word that MSNBC offers, while the Republican masses cling to the hopes and beliefs of Fox News. CNN sits somewhere in between.

Some listen to what the other side has to say, but usually not for long.

Seven States to Decide the Country’s Fate

With trenches dug in 43 of the 50 states, the remaining seven will decide Tuesday’s election. It’s up to the fine folks in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin to decide who will be the next president.

This doesn’t seem right, but you better get used to it – as long as the Electoral College is in place. There are Electoral College odds available for every state, including the aforementioned swing states.

Issues Bordering on Obsessiveness

In presidential news, Trump’s top platform is border control, continuing to claim that all illegal immigrants are either rapists or are bringing massive amounts of fentanyl into the country. The reality is that less than 1% fit this profile. Harris is pounding pro choice, although Trump has said “whether the women like it or not, I’m going to protect them.”

These are key issues for sure, but it remains to be seen how much the Southern border will impact the results for those who bet online.

Final Thoughts, and Prayers

The election was conducted and decided on the first Tuesday in November for eternity – until 2020. So if you think we’ll know who officially won on Tuesday night, you’re dreaming.

If Trump wins, it is expected that Harris will take the high road traveled by almost every candidate before her and concede. If Harris comes out on top, it would be a miracle if Trump concedes. He didn’t when he lost in 2020 to Joe Biden. Trump still maintains he won.

For those who don’t want to wait for the results of the electoral college, there is always the option of betting on the popular vote. Joe Biden won by seven millions votes in 2020 and Democrats are -400 in popular vote odds betting compared to +250 for Republicans.

No matter who is elected, the world will keep on spinning. It’s how we choose to live our lives that matters, not who’s living in the White House or Mar-a-Lago. Those who love instead of hate will keep on loving, and the haters will continue to hate. You can bet on that.
