The Roosters went an identical 7-3 at home and on the road and hit the playoffs having won five of six, though they lost their finale against South Sydney while resting the vast majority of their starters.

Penrith went a stupendous 18-1-1 to finish atop the NRL ladder with 37 points. The Panthers put 537 points on the board while limiting their opponents to a league-low 238. Penrith went a perfect 9-0 at home and 9-1-1 on the road. The Panthers hit the postseason having won a whopping 15 straight games. 

Melbourne Storm +210

Melbourne (16-0-4) finished second with 32 points. The Storm scored 534 points while conceding 276. Melbourne went 9-1 at home and 7-3 on the road and enters the postseason having won four straight until dropping their finale against St. George while resting their starters. 

Canberra Raiders +1000

Canberra (14-0-6) finished fifth in the NRL ladder with 28 points. The Raiders scored 445 points during the regular season while allowing 317. Canberra went 6-4 at home, but an even more impressive 8-2 on the road. The Raiders closed out the regular season with three straight wins. 

South Sydney Rabbitohs +1400

South Sydney (12-0-8) finished the regular season in sixth place with 24 points. The Rabbitohs scored 521 points while allowing 352 points. South Sydney went 7-3 at home and 5-5 on the road. The Souths hit the postseason having won two of three including their win over the rival Roosters in their finale.

Parramatta Eels +1800

Parramatta (15-0-5) finished third in the NRL ladder with 30 points. The Eels put 392 points on the board this season while conceding 288 points defensively. Parramatta went 8-2 at home and 7-3 on the road. The Eels won their final two regular-season contests and three of their final four games overall. 

Newcastle Knights +8000

Newcastle (11-1-8) finished seventh in the NRL ladder with 23 points. The Knights scored 421 points while allowing 374. Newcastle went 7-3 at home, but an uninspiring 4-5 on the road. The Knights hit the finals having lost two of their final three regular-season contests. 

Cronulla Sharks +10000

The Sharks (10-0-10) finished eighth in the NRL ladder to claim the eighth and final spot in the 2020 NRL postseason. Cronulla scored and allowed an identical 480 points this season. The Sharks hit the postseason having lost two straight and three of their final four regular-season contests. 

NRL Finals

The playoffs get underway at Penrith on Friday night with the Panthers hosting the two-time defending champion Roosters with the winner advancing to week three and the losing side going into a sudden-death game in Week 2. 

Canberra host Cronulla on Saturday in an elimination final before Melbourne takes on Parramatta in the other qualifying final at the Storm’s playoff venue, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium. The first week of the finals concludes on Sunday with Souths up against Newcastle in the other sudden-death playoff.

The Panthers beat the Roosters 20-14 on March 14 the last time these two rivals met. 

Saturday, October 3

5.40 PM: Canberra Raiders vs Cronulla Sharks at GIO Stadium, Canberra

The Raiders smacked the Sharks around in their 38-28 win the last time these two met on Saturday, though the Raiders didn’t pay many of their starters in the affair. 

7:50 PM: Melbourne Storm vs Parramatta Eels at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane

The Eels blanked the Storm 14-0 in their last meeting on August 20. 

Sunday, October 4

4.05 PM: South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Newcastle Knights at ANZ Stadium, Sydney

The Knights have won two straight in this rivalry including a narrow, 20-18 win on July 18.
