All-Queensland Battle in NRL
NRL lines have predicted a close game between the North Queensland Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos on Friday morning.
After they secured quality wins in Round One, a spot at the top of the NRL is up for grabs.
The Broncos are slight -1½ favorites with online gambling markets, so bettors should expect a barnstormer at Suncorp Stadium.
Cowboys Have Recent Advantage
The Cowboys have won the last two games against the Broncos, so they could have the advantage.
Long known as the baby brother to the Broncos, the Cowboys have become one of the best teams in the NRL. That was evident when they held on to beat the Canberra Raiders 19-18 last week in a nail-biter.
However, there are some things going against the Cowboys according to the latest NRL news. They have a 10-26 record at Suncorp Stadium, so that will need to be addressed, hence the betting markets having them as underdogs.
It’s a tough game to predict, but if the best Cowboys outfit comes to town, there aren’t too many better in the NRL.
However, after leading 18-0 last week, they let in three converted tries. They can’t take their foot off the gas against a bruising Broncos side.
Broncos star Payne Haas, who has made news this week due to his mother’s impending manslaughter charge, believes the Cowboys are a dangerous side.
“Yeah they have a right to say that, they’ve beaten us the past few times”, Haas said. “They put some scores on us in both games (last season) and it’s something we’re not proud of – especially at Suncorp last year, they pulled our pants down”.
Broncos Moving Forward
Expectations were tapered for the Broncos in preseason rugby betting markets, but we kept the faith.
They are a dangerous side on their day, as they showed last week when beating the back-to-back NRL champion Penrith Panthers.
They showed excellent defense when keeping the Panthers to 12 points, so we’re not surprised by the -150 moneyline odds available.
Bettors have been burned in the past when backing the Broncos following a win, but given their roster, there are no excuses for poor performance.
The addition of Reece Walsh at fullback is excellent, and he teams up with Katoni Staggs and Herbie Farnworth, two of the more powerful runners of the ball in the NRL.
Las Vegas odds respect the senior players for the Broncos, including Adam Reynolds and Haas. They have a great mix of youth and experience, and they will be buoyed by their Round One win.
Cowboys vs Broncos Head-to-Head
The Cowboys won the most recent meeting 40-26. They won the previous meeting at Suncorp 38-12, so the Broncos need to right those wrongs.
Overall, it’s a 33-20-1 advantage to the Broncos from 54 games.
