Close Game Expected
There is little doubt that the Dolphins have been much better so far, but most of the money with the sportsbook has come in for the St. George Dragons.
NRL lines have the Dragons at -150 to win, despite being 1-2. However, they get a plethora of players back in the squad.
Saturday’s game should be a tight affair in Round 5 of the NRL.
Dolphins Keep Impressing
Despite losing to the Brisbane Broncos 18-12 last week, the Dolphins have shown that they’re good enough to be taken seriously.
They won their first three games against the Sydney Roosters, Canberra Raiders, and Newcastle Knights, and considering NRL news reported their season win/loss total was at 4½, they’re exceeding expectations.
However, last week’s loss to the Broncos damaged their roster. They lost Sean Sullivan and Tesi Niu, which could play against them on Saturday.
Like the Dragons, they have added to their roster this week, including Herman Ese’ese, Jeremy Marshall-King, and Isaiya Katoa. We would rather see Sullivan and Niu on the field, but the Dolphins are not as thin as some expect.
Marshall-King thanked the fans for welcoming him after his signing.
“It has been a great move for my family and we have enjoyed ourselves immensely up here”, said Marshall-King.
I want to thank the Dolphins’ fans and the local community for how they have welcomed us.
“I am really excited about what is ahead for the future of the Dolphins and I want to be part of it”.
Sport betting lines have them at +110, which has attracted some interest. They were +120 in early betting markets, so bettors aren’t giving up hope on the cinderella story continuing for the Dolphins.
Pressure on Dragons’ Defense
After conceding 80 points in their last two games, the Dragons are desperate for some defense.
They lost 40-18 to the Broncos, despite leading 18-10 at the half, before losing 40-8 against the Cronulla Sharks.
Even though they have been smashed in the last two weeks, online gambling markets have them favored to win. It’s likely to do with their returning players, including Jack de Belin and Jaiyden Hunt.
However, putting trust in the Dragons is tough. They’re allowing 32 points a game, so even against a weakened Dolphins outfit, they’re likely to allow at least 20 points.
Given the way the market is heading, the Dragons could start as the equal favorite. The -1½ is trading at -140, but we expect late money to come for the visitors.
