Round 19 of National Rugby League
Nothing Separates Them
The Parramatta Eels and Brisbane Broncos are locked on the same amount of points after 18 rounds of the NRL.
Given how close the race is for a top-four playoff position, we’re not surprised the sportsbook has framed an even market for the Round 19 clash on Thursday.

There have been many changes to the team lineups and it should be the highlight rugby league game of the week.
Let’s review the latest rugby news, stats, injury reports, and rugby odds for Eels vs Broncos. We’ve plenty of rugby picks and predictions for you to consider.
Eels Fighting Back
There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and the Eels starting the season strongly before falling away in the middle stages.
That was the case again this year, but they have bounced back with three wins from their last four games.
NRL odds don’t know how to frame the Eels because they’re so inconsistent. However, with recent wins over the Roosters, Tigers, and Warriors, the Eels have regained their confidence and are the current favorites to beat the Broncos.
We’re not sure if bookmakers have them framed accurately as the -200 favorite. We’re not discounted their chances of winning but they haven’t been beating teams near the top of the leaderboard.
The Tigers and Warriors are languishing at the bottom of the NRL ladder, so those wins could be misleading. They also lost to the lowly Canterbury Bulldogs 34-4, so a repeat of that performance would see them struggle to beat the talented Broncos.
The -4½ favorites need to be at their very best, so anything less could see the Eels go down in front of their home fans in Sydney.
Broncos Bring in Reinforcements
The State of Origin period is always tough to the Broncos, who welcome back a plethora of star players into the squad.
Following back-to-back wins over the Dragons and Titans, the Broncos are well-placed to make a run for the NRL Premiership. They sit one place ahead of the Eels, and welcoming back their star players is ideal.
Making their way back into the squad are the likes of Corey Oates, Kurt Capewell, Patrick Carrigan, and Payne Haas. It’s a formidable lineup, so we’re not sure why rugby league odds have the Broncos as +150 underdogs.
Playing on the road is harder and recent history favors the Eels, but there is a renewed confidence with the Broncos and it stems from having Adam Reynolds running the show at halfback.
“Those boys to get a chance that wouldn’t normally, because of Origin we rested the guys and we’ve got really good depth,” coach Kevin Walters told Fox Sports.
“To be successful in the NRL you’ve got to have good depth in your squad and guys that can come in and get the job done for you and we had that tonight. I’m not sure how many players we had out, but the guys that were in the jersey did a fantastic job.”
Eels vs Broncos Head-to-Head
This is the first meeting between the Eels and Broncos this season, but the Eels won both meetings last year.
They scored a 24-16 win in Brisbane before returning home and scoring an emphatic 46-6 victory.

Eels vs Broncos Prediction
There is excellent betting online value with the Broncos and we’re taking the +150 moneyline odds available.
They have been one of the better value teams so far in the NRL and we see their success continuing on Thursday.
With the State of Origin players back in the mix, it strengthens the Broncos more so than the Eels, so this is an obvious value pick to kick off Round 19.
