Stakes High in NRL Round 25 Showdown
Biggest Game of the Week
The Parramatta Eels vs Melbourne Storm is the biggest game of the week.
The top four spots are on the line and the stakes couldn’t be any higher. The sportsbook has framed the market accordingly, which sees the Storm as -3½ favorites to secure a second chance in the NRL finals.
However, given the Eels recent form, it won’t be an easy victory.
Let’s review the latest Rugby news, stats, injury reports, and Rugby odds for Eels vs Storm. We’ve plenty of Rugby picks and predictions for you to consider.
As well explore a variety of other rugby odds here to win!
Eels Blitzing Rivals
The Eels have posted 95 points over the last two weeks with wins over the Bulldogs and Broncos, so they’re on fire.
It comes on the back of a 26-0 defeat to the Rabbitohs, so it has been an impressive form reversal and they’re good enough to contest against the best teams in the finals.
Beating the Storm is something they have become accustomed to recently, including a 28-24 victory in Melbourne earlier this year. It was a tremendous effort and it holds them in good stead for Thursday’s game.
Shaun Lane says they have confidence heading into the finals.
“We have full confidence we can take it to any team if we turn up with the right attitude and we’ll take that confidence into the finals this year,’’ Lane told NRL.com.
“The back end of last year, we came off a few big losses which hurt the confidence in the group but we still fronted up in the finals and took it to a few teams. We learned it’s not about what’s happened, it’s about being in the moment and sticking to the game plan.”
NRL betting markets have the Eels as outsiders, but a close game is expected. The Eels are dangerous when they’re scoring tries and the Storm defense needs to be on alert, otherwise, it could be another upset result.
Storm Needing to Bounce Back
The Storm had rattled off four consecutive wins before losing to the Roosters last week, but it was a good effort in defeat.
The 18-14 loss showed them the things they need to work on before the finals, but their form prior included a 60-12 win over the Broncos and a 16-0 win over the Panthers.
Losing to the Eels twice in a year isn’t what the Storm wants against their Sydney rivals, so we’re expecting a focused performance from Craig Bellamy’s men.
We thought they would be -5½ favorites to beat the Eels, so bettors get a generous line with NRL odds. However, it will still take a big effort to beat a team brimming with confidence.
Eels vs Storm Head-to-Head
The Storm have a 24-17 edge over the Eels, but the last two games have gone the way of the Eels.
They scored an upset 28-24 win in March and a 22-10 win last year. The wins came on the road, which is good news as they’re playing at home.

Eels vs Storm Prediction
We respect how well the Eels have played recently but there is more upside with the Storm and the -1½ line is too good to pass up.
We expect them to be too good for the home side, especially after playing a tough game against the Roosters.
Betting online markets have a favorable line and we expect most of the money to come for the Storm.
