The biggest NRL game this weekend is the Gold Coast Titans vs Canberra Raiders, which pits two of the best attacking sides against each other.
Gold Coast comes off consecutive wins and it’s starting to live up to the hype. Canberra comes off a shocking loss to the Warriors, but online betting markets have installed them as favorites.
Can the Titans prove the bookmakers wrong? Or will the Raiders put last week’s disaster behind them?
Canberra Raiders Blow Big Lead
The Canberra Raiders were injury ravaged last week against the Warriors, but that’s no excuse for blowing a huge second half lead.
Canberra led 31-6 at one stage but were reeled in to lose 34-31 in the dying stages of the game. Coach Ricky Stuart wasn’t happy with the loss but he credited his team for battling through injury.

“I’ve never seen a group of individuals, down to 14, play so well but yet play to such adversity and play for each other,” Stuart told FoxSports.
“I know it’s in us and I learnt tonight it is even more in us. I’ve got a winning team in there. We didn’t get the points but I know which change room I’d prefer to be in tonight.”
It won’t be easy for the Raiders to bounce back and win this week, but the neutral ground should help their chances.
Either way, we’re surprised NRL betting markets have the Raiders as firm favorites.
Canberra Gold Coast Finding Form
Expectations were high for the Gold Coast Titans this season and despite a Round 1 loss to the Warriors, they have looked much better recently.
The Titans posted a 28-16 win over the Broncos before beating North Queensland 44-8. They are two of the worst teams in the NRL this season, but don’t take credit away from the Titans.
Alex Brimson, Patrick Herbert and David Fifita have been standout players this season and they have the muscle to handle the Raiders on Saturday.
Bettors are getting excellent value for a rugby league team that is growing every week. They will be confident of turning around some recent losses to the Raiders.
From 25 games played between the Titans and Raiders, Canberra has the 13-12 edge.
Canberra won both meetings in 2020, but this is a very different Titans outfit in 2021. Off-season signing have bolstered this team immensely, so last year’s results shouldn’t be looked into too much.
Gold Coast has scored five points more than Canberra this season, and given up 13 less points. There is an edge for the Titans and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them win.
Titans vs Raiders Game Pick
There has been a flood of betting support for the Raiders but we simply can’t see why.
The Raiders are a good side, but it could take them a week to bounce back from the devastating loss to the Warriors.
Bookmakers are also underestimating the quality of the Gold Coast Titans, which has already seen them win consecutive games.
