NRL’s Best Collide

Superstars on Show in Sydney

The big names in the NRL take to Accor Stadium on Friday as the Melbourne Storm visit the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

They are expected to be fighting out the playoffs in September, but for now, the Rabbitohs have the edge with NRL lines at -4½.

It’s the biggest game of Round 5, so strap in for some big hits and tasty tries.

Storm One-Sided Record

The Storm have an outstanding record against the Rabbitohs, which makes their +4½ NRL betting line look like great value.

They are 31-6 against the Rabbitohs, which is one of the most lopsided rivalries in the NRL. We couldn’t quite believe it when we saw it.

That’s what the Rabbitohs face, but for the Storm, it’s all about building on the momentum they got from beating the Wests Tigers 24-12 last week.

It wasn’t an outstanding performance by any means, but it ended a two-game losing streak to the Bulldogs and Titans, which was unlike the Storm. They don’t often lose to teams like the Bulldogs and Titans, but not having Cameron Munster was a big reason for that.

With Munster back in the team, the Storm is a different outfit, and they’re looking to score a road upset.

Our only worry is the talk about coach Craig Bellamy potentially looking to coach the Queensland Maroons at the State of Origin level, according to NRL news.

I’m pretty sure this is going to be my last year as a head coach,” Bellamy told NRL 360.

“I’ll still be around the club a little bit in a part-time role at the end of this year.”

Rabbitohs Boosted by Win

The Rabbitohs should have taken plenty of confidence when beating the Manly Sea Eagles 13-12 last week.

It was another close game for the Sydneysiders, who had lost 16-10 to the Panthers and 20-18 to the Roosters. They now have to play another top team, so it has been a tough introduction to 2023.

Online gambling lines have the Rabbitohs at -190 to win the game outright, which is a fair price at home. They play well at Accor Stadium, with a winning record of 114 wins from 197 games. However, the Storm are 17-9.

We expect money to come for the Storm, so the sportsbook could trim the line to -4. It still puts the Rabbitohs in a commanding position, but this game could go either way, so it could depend on how well they start.

Rabbitohs vs Storm Head-to-Head

Despite the Storm’s dominance over the Rabbitohs, South Sydney won the most recent meeting 24-12 in July.

Having 6 wins from 37 games against the Storm is an incredible statistic for one of the most successful teams to ever play in the NRL, so it makes for an intriguing contest.

Rabbitohs vs Storm Picks and Prediction

Our NRL picks have the Storm covering the spread. We can’t look past their dominant record against the Rabbitohs, and having Munster back helps.

It should be a close contest either way, so there might only be one try difference, which forces us to back Storm +4½.

The Rabbitohs are listed at -190 in our Vegas Rugby lines. This means that if you wager $100 on Rabbitohs, you can win $53. Storm is +145, offering a chance to win $145 on a $100 wager.

The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives Rabbitohs a 65.52% chance to win, with Storm at 40.82%.
