Sudden-Death in NRL Matchup
The Wrong Team Favored?
There is a case to be made for bookmakers having the odds the wrong way around for Saturday’s Cronulla Sharks vs South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The Sharks are the +1½ underdogs following a heartbreaking loss last week, but they looked better than the Rabbitohs, who endured a crazy game against the Roosters.
NRL odds are available and it’s an excellent opportunity for bettors.
Let’s review the latest Rugby picks, stats, injury reports, and Rugby odds for Sharks vs Rabbitohs. We’ve plenty of Rugby predictions for you to consider.
Sharks to Bite Back
We thought the Sharks were hard done by last week when losing 32-30 to the Cowboys. They allowed a try in the final 20 seconds before losing in overtime, but they can bounce back.
They have been one of the better teams throughout the year and one loss doesn’t define their season. Therefore, bettors should overlook the loss and expect them to play well as the betting online underdogs.
Prior to that loss, they defeated the Knights, Bulldogs, and Sea Eagles. They weren’t tested in those three wins, which could have backfired last week. However, with that game under their belts, they should come out strong.
“Part of a good team is having that resilience because you have to bounce back week-to-week. This week is a good example,” winger Connor Tracey told ABC.
“It helps if you’ve been through those times, it builds who you are as a person and we do have a lot of that in this team – the resilience to bounce back. If it’s been a bad performance or some injuries, we’ve always managed to step up and find something.”
Facing the Rabbitohs was made easier by the suspension of Tom Burgess, so the Rabbitohs are without one of their best forwards.
The even-money price with bookmakers could be worth snapping up.
What to Make of the Rabbitohs
Last week’s game against the Roosters was pure mayhem. It had seven yellow card offenses, which is a record.
It could have a negative impact on the Rabbitoh’s chances of making the qualifying final, but the sportsbook hasn’t taken notice.
We thought the quality of last week’s game was poor and it was overlooked because of the unusual circumstances. However, if they want to beat the Sharks, they’ll need to play with level heads and play much better.
The Rabbitohs have only two wins from their last four games. The losses came to the Roosters two weeks ago and the Panthers, but the most recent contest against the Sharks didn’t go their way.
We’re not sure if the Rabbitohs have made enough improvements to warrant favoritism,
Sharks vs Rabbitohs Head-to-Head
The Sharks have a 19-16 edge over the Rabbitohs, including a 21-20 win in late July.
It’s often a close game and that is reflected in NRL betting markets for the finals contest.
