Adding Mbappe Changes Real Madrid Attacking Set-Up

Real Madrid has announced the signing of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer after the France captain left Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old, who is PSG’s record goal-scorer with 256 goals in 308 appearances, has signed a five-year contract at the Bernabeu.

The 2018 World Cup winner joined Real Madrid just two days after Carlo Ancelotti’s side won their 15th Champions League title to clinch the double, having also been crowned La Liga champions.

However, despite the excitement over signing a player of this caliber, a series of questions arise about how this addition will affect the locker room, both in positive and negative aspects.

One key question for next season is who will dominate Real Madrid’s left wing. This season, the formation changed with Jude Bellingham’s arrival, shifting to a 4-3-1-2 setup.

However, Ancelotti will now have three options for the left wing, considering Rodrygo and Mbappe, which adds more flexibility to the team’s tactics. This is a positive aspect given the long season ahead.

Vinicius Junior’s future at Real Madrid could come into serious question now that Mbappe has joined.

They are two of the world’s very best players, but they both operate best when cutting inside from the left flank, and it remains to be seen if Vinicius and Mbappe will be able to work in the same starting lineup.

Focus of Real Madrid’s will not Revolve Around Mbappe

The impact of Bellingham this season has been huge for La Liga, with the England international bringing in thousands of new eyeballs to the division.

Mbappe will likely bring a similar level of interest after departing PSG. The France star is widely considered to be the best player in the world, and La Liga could re-establish themselves as the elite league in world football, just like in the 2010s, thanks to Mbappe’s arrival.

Real Madrid boss Ancelotti can rightly claim to be the greatest manager of his generation. He has admitted in an interview that adjustments will have to be made at Real Madrid with the departure of Toni Kroos and the arrival of Mbappe.

The Italian manager will have a luxurious headache over the summer as he prepares for the new season with an embarrassment of riches at his disposal. Finding a way to fit all the talent that the Spanish giants have into the team will be a near-impossible task and there has been much speculation over how this new-look Madrid side will line up.

Ancelotti has hinted that while the team will need to adjust to the new arrivals coming into the team, the formation and system that saw the club win their 15th Champions League title might not be all that different and the focus will not be solely on Mbappe.

Real Madrid No. 2 Favorite to Win Champions League

Ancelotti is something of an anomaly in the era of footballing philosophers and tormented tacticians. He won so many trophies and he won’t stop here. He is coaching the best team in the world and we expect him to continue winning trophies at the highest level.

Real Madrid is priced at +300 to win the Champions League next season, only behind Manchester City at +250 according to the latest soccer odds. On top of that, Los Blancos are huge favorites to win the domestic title at -200.

Given their squad and what player Ancelotti has at his disposal, you can parlay both bets at +500. Betting on futures and waiting an entire season to cash it’s not the best option, but Real Madrid is the real deal.
