Can Wolfsburg Continue Red-hot Form vs Bayern?

Bayern looked set to reach their first UEFA Champions League Final since 2020 until the 88th minute when Joselu capitalized on an error from Manuel Neuer and tapped home the equalizer before completing his brace just three minutes later to secure an epic comeback for Real Madrid. The Thomas Tuchel era will end with just one trophy in 13 months for Bayern, who have just one thing left to play for: second place.

Bayern sit two points above third-place Stuttgart and six ahead of fourth-place RB Leipzig, but they are nevertheless guaranteed to return to Europe’s premier competition next season. With the season all but over and Bayern despondent after a heartbreaking finale that saw Matthijs de Ligt’s 99th-minute goal ruled out due to offsides, I would not be surprised if we see a fatigued performance from a team that could be suffering from a European hangover.

Bayern began May with a 3-1 loss at Stuttgart before coming up short in Madrid, and with two games left, they have already lost seven matches and drawn three in the Bundesliga this season. Whilst the Bavarian giants have a lame duck in the dugout with Tuchel set to depart the club at the end of the month, Wolfsburg have found a new lease on life since Ralph Hasenhuttl’s arrival on March 17, escaping the relegation zone and surfacing to the midtable positions.

Four of their 10 victories have come since the Austrian took charge, with Wolfsburg winning three straight Bundesliga matches for the first time since November 2022, and he’ll be looking to make that four in a row as his Wolfsburg side visit the Allianz Arena.

Favorable Wind Blowing for Prop Picks

Wolfsburg have been held scoreless just twice in their last 11 matches – a 2-0 loss at Leverkusen and a 3-0 loss at Leipzig – and there’s reason to believe that their high-scoring form will continue in Munich. One player who could have a crucial role to play is Jonas Wind. The Danish striker began the season in red-hot form, scoring 10 goals between Aug. 13 and Nov. 25, before going on a five-month scoring drought.

He broke that drought on April 20, opening the scoring before halftime in a 1-0 win vs. Bochum before leading the line in their 2-1 victory at Freiburg. The following match would see Wind double the lead in the 10th minute, with Vaclav Cerny putting the seal on a 3-0 win vs. Darmstadt, and there’s reason to believe that trend will continue.

We’re backing both teams to score in our Bundesliga betting picks, and we’re backing Jonas Wind to have a big role to play.

Best Bet: Both teams to score (-165)
