Messi, Inter Miami Thirsty for Revenge vs CF Montreal

Mid-March, CF Montreal visited Fort Lauderdale and ended up enjoying way more than the nice weather and view. The Impact defeated a Messi-less Inter Miami 3-2 despite losing possession with 39 percent. Now, with the Argentine superstar back and the MLS Eastern Conference top spot on the line, the Herons expect to fulfill their role as betting online favorites (-110) and take revenge.

CF Montreal vs Inter Miami Odds and Spreads

Messi, Suarez Put on a Show in First Leg of Revenge Tour

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are no strangers to revenge. Last weekend, the Herons crushed the New York Red Bulls 6-2. The Red Bulls are the only other team to have beaten Miami in the current MLS season.

Dante Vanzeir scored the opener for New York in the 30th minute. In fact, the Red Bulls won the first half. However, the Herons put on a great show led by Messi and Luis Suarez. The Argentinian scored the 2-1 in the 50th and, believe it or not, contributed five assists while the Uruguayan scored a hat trick in 13 minutes.

That result allowed the Herons to remain atop the Eastern Conference standings with 24 points, three more than FC Cincinnati. As if that weren’t enough, no other team has scored more goals than Miami with 32. The Herons are followed by the Philadelphia Union with 19 goals.

The Herons have played one more game than Cincinnati, which is why they can’t even afford to draw against CF Montreal. The good news is that we’re also talking about a very deep roster, including Matias Rojas, who scored his first goal with the team in the match against the Red Bulls.

Bottom line, Inter Miami at -110 is a great deal to include in your soccer picks because here’s one more thing: The Herons are 3-1-1 when playing on the road.

CF Montreal vs Inter Miami Betting Tips

  • CF Montreal won the previous meeting between the two 3-2.
  • Both scored in five of their previous nine meetings.
  • The total has gone over 3 goals in three of the last five meetings between the two.
  • CF Montreal averages 1.4 goals per game when playing at home.
  • Inter Miami averages 1.6 goals per game when playing on the road.
  • Average number of goals in the first half in meetings between these two is 1.6.
  • CF Montreal is 1-0-1 against the spread at home.
  • Inter Miami is 3-2 against the spread on the road.

CF Montreal Mired in Winless Streak

CF Montreal is winless in its last three MLS games, four if we include the Canadian Championship. Most recently, the Impact were humiliated 4-1 by Nashville SC. They had no chance since Nashville scored two goals in the first 20 minutes of the game.

But not so fast, because we’re talking about a team that already beat the top two teams in the Eastern Conference. That’s right, besides upsetting Miami at Chase Stadium, the Impact also defeated FC Cincinnati 2-1. That was their first victory at home, where they’re 1-1-0.

The Impact attacking unit is kind of scary, at least for you to consider betting on the underdog, especially playing at home and offering a +280 price to win straight up. The unit is led by Josef Martinez, a certified scorer who used to play for Miami. He’s followed by Ariel Lassiter and Matias Coccaro. Each has scored at least two goals.

The bad news is that no other team has conceded more goals than the Impact with 20. Which leads me to the conclusion that if there’s something you can expect from this match, it’s goals.
