Brazil Remains Favorite to Win 2022 World Cup
Three European Teams Follow on Odds Board
The World Cup Qualifiers won’t return until late January. That’s why we thought it was the perfect time to check back the soccer odds to conquer glory in Qatar.
Thirteen teams have already qualified, including France, meaning Les Bleus will be able to defend the crown they won in 2018. They sit atop the odds board, but there’s company.
Top Favorites to Win the 2022 World Cup
Brazil (+600)
Brazil remains unbeaten on the road to the 2022 WC. That’s right, they own an 11-2-0 record, 27 goals for and only four against. No other team has scored more goals than them. Also, no other team has allowed fewer goals than them. That’s more than enough to deserve being the betting online favorites.
Historically, they’ve been known for their attacking power and creativity, but this version is very well balanced. Allison Becker is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Eder Militao has become a star while playing for Real Madrid.
Vinicius Junior, who also plays for Los Blancos, is having a breakthrough season. He could arrive at the WC as one of the best players in the world. Neymar remains the captain, but he has been dealing with some injuries. Let’s hope he can play in what could be his last big tournament.
Brazil conquered the glory for the last time in 2002. They’re eager to reclaim the throne.
France (+600)
France is offering the same price as Brazil but coming in as defending champions increases the pressure.
The good news is that their roster is extremely talented. Some consider it to be better than Brazil’s. Let’s see, it includes Presnel Kimpembe, Paul Pogba, Karim Benzema, Antoine Griezmann, and Kylian Mbappe. You know what? They might be right.
Mbappe could be on the move during the next transfer window. Playing for a powerhouse such as Real Madrid or Manchester City could motivate him even more towards the WC. Plus, he’ll have plenty of time to adapt because the WC won’t start until November.
Didier Deschamps took over in 2012, meaning it’s been a long, successful process. Besides winning the 2018 WC, they also won the UEFA Nations League. You will never be wrong by including Les Bleus in your soccer picks.
England (+700)
In 2018, English sports betting enthusiasts thought it was coming home. They lost to Croatia in the Semifinals. In 2021, those same enthusiasts thought the European cup was coming home. They lost to Italy in the Final.
We’re talking about a talented team, but they need to believe more in themselves. Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, come on, that’s like a Dream Team.
England’s advantage is that most of its players play in the Premier League. That means they know each other.
The Three Lions won the WC for the last time in 1966. I think it’s time for them to win another.
Spain (+800)
A lot of people called Luis Enrique “mad” for including players such as Gavi and Yeremi Pino into the mix. Neither is 20 years old. The thing is that having some young blood, and fresher legs, helped Spain reach the UEFA Nations League Final. They lost, but still, they put an end to Italy’s historic streak in the Semifinals.
La Roja’s roster also includes experienced players such as David de Gea, Sergio Busquets, and Cesar Azpilicueta. Plus, some of those young players are starting to play in La Liga, the English Premier League, and the Serie A. They’ll be more than ready to put up a good fight.
Dark Horse
All remaining teams could be considered a dark horse, including Argentina (+1000), Germany (+1000), Belgium (+1200) and the Netherlands (+1600). All four have already qualified.
For me, the winner of the playoff series between Italy and Portugal will become the dark horse to fear. That’s right, one of those teams won’t be in the WC, but the winner will be highly motivated. Right now, Italy’s offering a +1200 price to win the WC, while Portugal is ++2500.
A tournament without Cristiano Ronaldo or without the winners of the EURO. What do you prefer? If you ask me, bye-bye Italy!
