That’s why we felt the need to choose the top five games that will take place during the Group Stage of the Copa America 2024. Here we go!

Best 5 Group Stage Matches at Copa America

1. Brazil vs Costa Rica

Yes, Brazil is highly favored to defeat Costa Rica. La Verdeamarela is -600 in the sportsbook to win straight up. No, I don’t expect a stunner from Los Ticos. However, every single time these two collide in a major tournament, we end up having a very entertaining match.

Regarding the Copa America, this will be the third time that these two countries meet. In 1997, Ronaldo led Brazil to a 5-0 victory. Four years later, it was Adriano who led La Verdeamarela to a 4-1 victory.

Los Ticos have never beaten Brazil in an official match. They haven’t even won a point. Nevertheless, keep in mind that the total has gone over 4½ goals in three of their previous five meetings. In other words, if you like goals, this is the perfect game for you to relax, sit back and enjoy.

As if that weren’t enough, this will be the first time that we’ll get to see Endrick, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes together in prime time. I’m telling you, fasten your seatbelt because it will be a thrilling game.

2. Chile vs. Argentina

First, Argentina won the previous edition of the Copa America, which means it’s the rival to beat. Second, we can’t forget that Chile defeated La Albiceleste in two consecutive finals (2015 and 2016), which means Lionel Messi and Co. are thirsty for revenge. Third, speaking about Messi, this is expected to be his last time playing in the continental tournament. The same for Angel Di Maria, which means both players will go all-in right from the start in every single game.

There’s also the fact that we’re talking about the soccer betting favorites to win Group A. Argentina is offering a -400 price while Chile is +600. In other words, if Chile wants to keep its hopes alive, La Roja can’t even afford to draw.

3. Mexico vs. Ecuador

Believe it or not, Mexico is atop the odds board to win Group B at +110. Yes, the team that recently lost 4-0 to Uruguay and 3-2 to Brazil. La Verdeamarela was up 2-0 but fell asleep during the last 15 minutes of the match. The point is that Mexico is far from its best form. Rumor has it that Javier Aguirre will take the reins once the continental tournament is over.

On the other hand, we have a team like Ecuador, which is +160 to win first place. They won’t say it, but I’m sure most players feel disrespected for not being the favorites. After all, we’re talking about a team that advanced to the quarterfinals in three of the last five editions of the Copa America.

4. United States vs. Uruguay

If Team USA wants to be respected, Christian Pulisic and company must beat powerhouses like Uruguay. Los Charruas come in as the favorites to win Group C at -135, but let’s not forget that the Stars and Stripes will be playing at home. By the way, Team USA is +135 to finish atop the standings.

Summing up, it’s very likely that the winner of this match will finish in first place. As if that weren’t enough, we’ll get to see Pulisic, Weston McKennie and Yunus Munsah facing Ronald Araujo, Federico Valverde and Darwin Nunez. Sounds like an All-Star game!

5. Brazil vs. Colombia

Brazil is featured in the first and last game selected for one particular reason, La Verdeamarela won half of the last 10 editions. That’s why Junior and company are +225 to win the Copa America title. Only Argentina is ahead of them at +175.

The thing is that, at the time of writing, Colombia is on a 22-game non-losing streak. Los Cafeteros will be led by Luis Diaz, Daniel Munoz, Jefferson Lerma and Jhon Duran. All four play in the English Premier League.

As expected, Brazil leads the odds to win Group D at -250 while Colombia is +250, which means this also has the potential to be a game for the top spot.
