USA’s Loaded Roster Ready to Fire in Copa America

There´s another reason for USA to be a big threat in Group C; we´re talking about the best generation of players this team has ever had. There are at least two players who stand out in Europe in each line. That´s something not even Mexico can say.

Goalkeeper Matt Turner plays for Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League. That means Turner is used to facing the best strikers in the world, including Erling Haaland, and Mohamed Sala to name a couple.

Regarding the defensive unit, there´s Cameron Carter-Vickers, who was crucial for Celtic to win the Scottish Premiership with an eight-point advantage over Rangers. And let´s not forget about Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson, who play for Fulham in the EPL, which means their chemistry is uncanny.

Weston McKennie and Yunus Musah, who play for Juventus and AC Milan in the Italian Serie A, lead the midfield. McKennie finished the 2023-24 season with seven assists, enough to lead the Bianconeri in that department.

Finally, we´ve Christian Pulisic (AC Milan), Tim Weah (Juventus), and Ricardo Pepi (PSV) leading the attacking unit. Pulisic finished the Serie A season with 12 goals, only Olivier Giroud scored more for the team with 15. As for Pepi, PSV won the Eredivisie title with a 29-4-1 record. He contributed with seven goals.

However, take all this with a grain of salt: USA has played in Copa America four times and either flopped or got to the verge of a final berth. Most recently, in 2016 also playing as the host, they reached the semifinals, which they lost 4-0 to Argentina. This time, they´re offering a +1200 betting line to win it all!

El Loco’s Legion: Why Uruguay is the Favorite to Conquer Group C

Uruguay is the favorite to win Group C at -135 betting odds. There are several reasons, but let´s begin with Marcelo “El Loco” Bielsa, who´s considered one of the best coaches in the world. He hasn´t won the Copa America title, but in 2004, he led Argentina to the final. El Loco took over Uruguay in 2023.

Uruguay´s depth is another reason for them to be favorites. We´re talking about a roster that includes Ronald Araujo, Federico Valverde, Darwin Nunez, Jose Maria Gimenez, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Manuel Ugarte, to name a few.

Valverde plays for Real Madrid and is considered one of the best midfielders in the world. Araujo plays for Barcelona and is one of the best centre-backs, and Darwin Nunez, who plays for Liverpool, is on the rise as one of the best strikers.

In addition, all these young players have the support of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani, two veterans who have won it all, including the 2011 edition of the continental tournament.

+1600 Longshots: Bolivia & Panama Don’t Stand a Chance

Now, it´s time to talk about the underdogs. Bolivia and Panama are offering a +1600 price to win Group C.

Bolivia is considered the worst team from CONMEBOL with a 1-0-5 record on the road to the 2026 World Cup, conceding 14 goals, more than any other team, including Peru, the team in last place.

As for Panama, Los Canaleros have improved a lot thanks to head coach Thomas Christiansen, who has done a great job establishing a winning mentality. In the last edition of the Gold Cup, Panama reached the final but lost 1-0 to Mexico. Los Canaleros are a feisty underdog, no doubt about that, but CONCACAF´s rhythm is much slower.

This will be Panama´s second time at Copa America. In 2016, Los Canaleros finished third in Group D with a 1-0-2 record. Bolivia’s best result in the continental tournament was in the 1963 edition when they managed to win the title. Most recently, their best result was second place in 1997.
