England: Can They Finally Deliver as Favorites?

Last tournament’s finalists have arguably only strengthened since that dramatic loss to Italy, with star midfielder Jude Bellingham becoming one of the best players in Europe with Real Madrid, Harry Kane continuing to find the back of the net on a regular basis for club and country, and Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden growing in stature for Arsenal and Man City respectively.

It’s no surprise that England is the favorite to go all the way this summer. It is difficult to envisage them having too many problems in Group C.

England manager Gareth Southgate has received plenty of stick from fans throughout his tenure. However, he led his country to the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 28 years as well as a first major final since 1966… but he’s trophyless

The trick now is to actually try to win one this summer or risk being forever labeled as the Nearly Men. It still leaves a sense England could not quite cope with the pressure cooker atmosphere of the big occasion.

Everyone has them as clear favorites to win the competition and we expect them to have no issues in winning their group with three wins in a row. However, their price is unplayable at -250. Still, we can’t include them in our soccer parlay bets.

Group C Sleepers: Serbia +800 to Win, Value Bet?

Slovenia made their only appearance back in 2000 when they failed to make it out of the group stages, they come here having finished runner-up to Denmark in qualification.

This will be Denmark’s 10th appearance, their sole win came at the remarkable 1992 tournament when coming in as a replacement.

Making their 6th appearance is Serbia were runner-ups in 1960 & 1968, they came here after finishing runners-up to Hungary in qualification.

Denmark’s meeting with Serbia will likely decide who qualifies in second and, while the Danes are unlikely to repeat their Euro 2020 magic, Serbia often disappoints under the bright lights despite their impressive personnel.

Serbia only picked up one point at the World Cup in Qatar, but all their matches were entertaining. They have a good opportunity to reach the knockout phase, with all-time leading scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic still involved.

They are third favorites to win the group at +800 and are listed at +125 odds to return home after the group games.
