Below we analyze the groups and teams that have the best chance of advancing in the tournament.

Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland

Euro 2024 hosts Germany headline Group A, expected to breeze through the qualifiers. However, don’t count out Scotland and Switzerland, who pose formidable challenges. Hungary, while spirited, may struggle against the group heavyweights.

Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, and Albania

Even though they’re the defending champions, Italy isn’t looking so good. They haven’t made it to the last two World Cups, which isn’t a good sign for a team used to winning big. Things haven’t been smooth with their coaches either. Mancini left to coach Saudi Arabia, and Spalletti is the new guy, but he’s still figuring out how to get the best out of players like Gianluigi Donnarumma and Federico Chiesa.

There is a lot of history between the main teams in this group. In the Nations League played in 2023, Spain beat Italy in the semifinal 2-1 and in the final, they beat Croatia in the penalty shootout after finishing the match with a tie.

In total, Spain and Italy will face each other for the fifth European Championship in a row.

Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, and England

England is the frontrunner in Group C, boasting a star-studded lineup that includes Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Ivan Toney, Bukayo Saka, Harry Kane, and Phil Foden. While Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia pose threats, the Three Lions are poised for success.

Group D: Poland, Netherlands, Austria, and France

Group D emerges as the “Group of Death,” with Poland, Netherlands, Austria, and France vying for dominance. Led by the formidable Robert Lewandowski, Poland aims to upset the competition, but the Netherlands and France won’t go down without a fight.

France actually booked their spot in the tournament way back in October last year, beating the Netherlands 2-0 at their home stadium. That might give Ronald Koeman some extra motivation to get revenge.

Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, and Ukraine

Belgium is the team to beat in Group E. They’ve got a talented group of players, and their star striker Romelu Lukaku is on fire. He even beat out Cristiano Ronaldo for the top scorer spot in qualifying, scoring 14 goals. Looks like Belgium will be cruising to the next round. However, Ukraine, bolstered by experienced players like Mykhailo Mudryk and Oleksandr Zinchenko, poses a credible threat.

Group F: Turkey, Georgia, Portugal, and Czech Republic

While Group F may lack the star power of other groups, Portugal stands out as the clear favorite. However, Turkey, Georgia, and the Czech Republic are not to be underestimated, as they look to upset the odds.

Soccer news has been focusing on Georgia qualifying for the tournament for the first time, making history for the country. They eliminated Greece after an agonizing match in Tbilisi, with few chances but a lot of tension.

Euro 2024: A Summer of Football Fever

Remember that crazy time Greece won the Euros way back in 2004? Or how about when Iceland, a tiny team, beat England in 2016? That’s the thing about the Euros, anything can happen. This year promises to be just as exciting, with upsets and surprises around every corner.

As the UEFA tournament draws near, anticipation is building for thrilling soccer games, unexpected twists, and fierce competition.
