It’s hard to believe that PSG has spent over 1,400 million dollars and has over a decade of Champions League failures. Fun fact: the club just suffered three successive losses in all tournaments for the first time since 2011 after Bayern Munich eliminated the Parisians from the Champions League on March 8.
And if I may be honest here, it’s not a big deal nor that much of an achievement if you are at the top of the Ligue 1 table or win the French Cup. It’s simple, “La Orejona” continues to elude PSG.
After all the recent events, changes are bound to come for PSG, and current head coach Christophe Galtier is probably holding the biggest exit rumor sign over his head.
Who Will Pick Up the Mess?
Like Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel before him, Galtier is also in an awkward spot with the team following a streak of losses. The calm atmosphere at the beginning of the season is gone. Instead, the team is in crisis, Paris is burning, and everyone’s pointing fingers at management as expected.
Just as in the French Revolution, heads will roll, and Galtier’s head might have a basket waiting for it at the end of the road. It doesn’t help to know that Tuchel has started to sound like one of his possible successors.
On the other hand, French press reports say that PSG’s owners have not yet discussed the possibility of getting rid of Galtier. But they will definitely consider a change in management if results do not pick up within the next couple of weeks.
Galtier is currently under contract until the end of next season. But as of right now, the 56-year-old’s stay is at risk, with most of the blame for the team’s debacle aimed at him.
He should at least receive an ultimatum. Or, you know, just have him pack his bags and leave. But hey, that’s just me talking.

Will Zidane Clean Up Galtier’s Mess?
Galtier’s tenure with PSG started somewhat well, but the truth is that he was never entirely accepted by the club, and mainly by most of his players. Let me put it this way, Galtier was nothing but a personal gamble by Luis Campos, who convinced the team’s owners to bring someone with his profile, someone experienced in group management.
At that time, Zinedine Zidane was another candidate, but he never got a call from the Parisian squad. Now, the former Real Madrid coach’s name is rumored to take over the team as the Frenchman continues to wait for his next career move.
Zidane has been out of the management field since leaving Real Madrid for the second time at the end of 2021, although he has been linked with the Manchester United and France national team jobs since leaving Santiago Bernabeu.
In fact, Zidane was expected to take over the role from Didier Deschamps following the 2022 World Cup. But instead, the French Football Federation handed Deschamps a contract extension until the 2026 World Cup.
As a result, Zidane is available for hire, and PSG’s chiefs could intensify their pursuit of the 50-year-old – their first choice to replace Pochettino – in the coming months.

It Has to Be Zidane
With no temptation over a third try/stint in Madrid and Didier Deschamps extending his contract in charge of Les Bleus, Zidane has confirmed he is open to a new challenge in 2023.
If you ask me, based on his three UCL trophies in a row, there’s no doubt that “Zizou” will eventually join the club for good, just to revive the hope of the Parisian club fans worldwide.
