Italian Serie A 2022-23 Top Matches

Highly Competitive

Many people say that the Italian Serie A isn’t a competitive league.  Last season, AC Milan won the title for the first time in 11 years. Inter Milan finished as the runners-up, two points behind. Additionally, there was only a five-point gap between fifth and eighth place. In the end, Atalanta, a team that has played in the UEFA Champions League the last three seasons didn’t qualify for the Conference League.

For the 2022-23 campaign, the reigning champs aren’t the soccer betting online favorites to win the title. In fact, there are two teams ahead of them. Summing up, the Italian Serie A is a highly competitive tournament, so it wasn’t easy to choose the top five matches for the upcoming season.

Juventus vs AS Roma (Aug 27)

Last season, Juventus managed to turn things around and at least qualified for the UCL. For the upcoming season, they lost Matthijs de Ligt, Paulo Dybala, and Alvaro Morata. However, they signed Bremer, Paul Pogba, and Angel Di Maria. In other words, the Vecchia Signora is ready to fight for the title. In fact, they’re offering a +185 price in the sportsbook to win the Scudetto.

As for AS Roma, the 2022-23 campaign will be Jose Mourinho’s second season in charge of the season. In 2021-22, he led them to the Conference League title, the team’s first title in 14 years. As if that wasn’t enough, Mourinho convinced Dybala to join the team. That’s right, this will be Dybala’s return to Juventus Stadium.

AC Milan vs Inter Milan (Sep 3)

We won’t have to wait long for the first Derby della Madonnina. As mentioned before, there are two teams ahead of AC Milan in the soccer lines to win the title. We already established that Juventus is one of those teams. Well, the other one is Inter Milan thanks to a +175 price.

Last season, they met four times. Regarding the Serie A, the first match ended 1-1, while AC Milan won the second 2-1. That victory was what made the difference in the title race. The Nerazzurri took revenge in the Coppa Italia as they eliminated the Rossoneri in the Semifinals with a 3-0 aggregate.

Last but not least, this will be the first great opportunity for the new players of both sides to shine. AC Milan invested in Junior Messias, Alessandro Florenzi and Divock Origi. Inter Milan did it on Joaquin Correa, Romelu Lukaku, Andre Onana, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Juventus vs Inter Milan (Nov 6)

Officially, Juventus vs Inter Milan is the Derby of Italy. As mentioned before, we’re talking about teams sitting atop the odds board to win the Scudetto. Whoever wins this match will keep their chances intact.

Last season, they also met four times. First, they collided in the Italian Supercup, which Inter Milan ended up winning 2-1 in overtime. Later, they met twice in the Serie A; they drew 1-1 at San Siro, while the Nerazzurri won 1-0 in Turin. Finally, they met in the Coppa Italia Grand Finale. Once again, Inter Milan won in overtime, this time 4-2. In other words, the Bianconeri are thirsty for revenge. The Vecchia Signora leads the all-time series 114-64-81.

Lazio vs AS Roma (Mar 19)

Believe it or not, there’s another derby. Lazio vs AS Roma is also known as the Derby della Capitale. We’re also talking about one of world soccer’s fiercest rivals. Here’s why: in 1927, three clubs from Rome joined to form AS Roma. Effectively, it was an effort on the part of Benito Mussolini to have a single representative of the city to challenge the supremacy of the northern teams. Well, Lazio refused to join forces.

Last season, each team won when playing as the host. Lazio did it 3-2, while AS Roma did it 3-0. In fact, the home team hasn’t lost since the 2016-17 season. Additionally, we’ll have a great individual matchup between Ciro Immobile and Tammy Abraham. Last season, Immobile won the domestic Golden Boot with 27 goals, while Abraham scored 17.

If you were looking for an underdog to include in your soccer picks to win the Serie A title, Lazio (+5000) or AS Roma (+1600) could be the answer.

Juventus vs AC Milan (May 28)

This match is scheduled for Fixture 37. Considering we’re talking about two of the favorites to win the title, whoever wins could end up sitting in the throne. Let’s not forget that one of these two won the Scudetto in 11 of the previous 12 seasons.

In 2021-22, both meetings ended with a draw. First, 1-1 in Turin, then 0-0 in Milan. After all, we’re talking about two of the best defensive teams in the world. Last campaign, both allowed less than one goal per game.
