Gundogan Joins Barcelona
Just weeks after captaining Manchester City to Champions League glory, German international Ilkay Gundogan has signed for Barcelona on a free transfer. In seven years in Manchester, he won 14 trophies, including five Premier League titles.
His contract expired on June 30, 2023, but he was free to negotiate with other clubs for the previous six months, as the rules allow. Given his Man City deal is running out, his suitors knew they didn’t have to pay a dime to his former club to acquire his services.
Barcelona came in and offered Gundogan, who turns 33 in October, a two-year deal with an option for a third. If he sees out the life of that contract, he would reach 36 years of age, making more money than he did during his treble-winning season at City.

Maddison Signs With Tottenham
James Maddison has joined Tottenham Hotspur in a $50m deal from Championship club Leicester City. Always expected to be on the move this summer with his Leicester contract running out in 12 months and the Foxes dropping down to the Championship, Spurs were in a battle with Newcastle United for the 26-year-old’s signature.
Despite the Magpies having Champions League football to offer the player following their top-four finish, Maddison has elected to seal a move to Tottenham rather than heading to the northeast. Maddison wowed in his five seasons at the King Power Stadium, netting 55 goals and offering 41 assists in 203 appearances. The arrival of Maddison will give Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham a huge boost in the attacking line.

Havertz Joins Arsenal
Kai Havertz joins Arsenal from Chelsea in a $82m deal. The German departs Stamford Bridge after three years at Chelsea, becoming Arsenal’s first summer signing. The 24-year-old secured his place in Blues history by scoring the goal that won them a second Champions League crown in 2021.
Chelsea signed Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for $95m but was looking to recoup a substantial portion of what they paid after a poor last campaign at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are understood to be satisfied with the deal as Havertz, who had two years remaining on his contract, had made it clear he wanted to leave the club. He will score many goals for the Gunners, and we will include him in our soccer picks and parlays.

Top Players on the Move
Chelsea has been linked with a surprise move for PSG attacker Kylian Mbappe. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move this summer, especially with his contract expiring next year. According to a report, Chelsea is plotting to sign him and could offer a player plus cash deal. Apparently, the Blues are hoping to offer a sum of around $130m for the French international forward along with players like Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, or Christian Pulisic.
Arsenal agrees to $130m deal to sign West Ham and England midfielder Declan Rice this summer. Their bid will make Rice the most expensive British transfer ever. The structure of the payments is yet to be finalized, but Rice is now free to discuss personal terms and look at having his medical. Rice has spent his entire professional career with West Ham and led the club to the Europa Conference League title as his last act.
