Our money is on Barcelona!

Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier confirmed that Saturday’s match would be Lionel Messi’s final game for the club. Where will the GOAT go next, Saudi Arabia, USA, Spain?

How many of us have tuned into the Saudi Pro League since Cristiano Ronaldo was swooped up for a staggering $200 mill per year? *Crickets*.

Well, this is why we should all support the soccer transfer news regarding Lionel Messi and his departure from PSG. According to reports, MLS side Inter Miami and Spanish giants Barcelona have teamed up to complicate the Saudi’s unmatchable offer presented to Messi.

So long as it isn’t your Sunday league friend’s opinion, two heads are always better than one. And it’s David Beckham’s Inter Miami teaming with the club that assisted in building the superstar we know today, Barcelona, to keep the soccer legend from playing in a league (Saudi Pro League) that, quite frankly, nobody cares about. If true, the soccer transfer rumors coming to fruition would see Miami assist Barca’s financial restraints by signing Messi but then instantly loaning him to Barca.

Listen, I’m all for the evolution of soccer in different parts of the world. But Saudi, wait for your damn turn. It’s frustrating that this league thinks it can simply build an elite-level foundation by throwing disgusting lump sums of money at players and leagues, such as the MLS, that have been respectfully growing their position in the sport for decades. And with that said, I’d personally love to see Messi return to Spain for 18 months before gracing the MLS with his talents.

But damn, ONE BILLION. It would take a special type of person to reject this offer. And as I write this article, the soccer rumors are buzzing with hype as Messi’s return to La Liga becomes more probable by the hour. But as previously stated, it would take a special human to turn down one billion. No surprise it would be Messi, though, because he’s proved a uniqueness on and off the pitch for decades.

With speculation floating around that Messi has lost enthusiasm to play in a league considered a lower caliber of soccer, it’s a beautiful moment for fans of the sport. None of us want Messi in that league. Just imagine LeBron going to play in Europe or Patrick Mahomes moving to the CFL, it’s not right, and it doesn’t make sense.

Messi’s father is apparently in strong talks with Barcelona as I type, and we should know where one of the world’s greatest players ever to grace the pitch will play next season within the next 24 hours. With or without Inter Miami, a billion or $0, I suspect Barcelona is the destination – it just makes sense!
