Napoli No Lock to Win 2023-24 Serie A

Reigning Champs Not Favored to Repeat

Last season, Napoli won the Serie A title for the first time since 1987. Nevertheless, the Azzurri aren’t the soccer betting favorites to repeat in the 2023-24 season. If you ask me, that’s not fair, but in the end, the Serie A is one of the toughest competitions to win.

We have had three different winners over the last three seasons, and for the upcoming campaign that begins on Aug. 19, four teams offer a price between +175 and +500 to win the Scudetto.

Which Team is the Favorite?

As mentioned before, Napoli won the title last season. They did it with a 15-point advantage over second place. However, that’s not enough for them to control the odds board for the upcoming campaign.

Speaking of second place, Lazio finished as the runners-up in 2022-23, but they aren’t the betting online favorites either. The favorites tag belongs to Inter Milan at +175. Curiously enough, the Nerazzurri didn’t sign any superstars, but they did fill all the gaps with Kristjan Asllani, Yann Bisseck, Yann Sommer, Davide Frattessi and Francesco Acerbi. Last season, the Nerazzurri finished third.

According to the latest soccer odds, Inter Milan is followed by Napoli at +300, which gives you the chance of winning $300 per every $100 wagered. That’s a great deal, especially because the Azzurri only lost center-back Min-jae Kim to Bayern Munich, but signed midfielder Giacomo Raspadori, who was tempted by several teams.

Next, we have Juventus at +330. The Bianconeri have been involved in a lot of trouble off the field, but they’ve talent to spare. They signed Manuel Locatelli and Moise Kean on permanent deals while managing to land Timothy Weah, who played for LOSC Lille the last four seasons.

Finally, there’s AC Milan. The Rossoneri, who won the Scudetto in the 2021-22 season, are offering a +500 price. They were the ones who spent the most in the offseason, signing Samuel Chukwueze, Chrisitan Pulisic, Yunus Musah, Tijjani Reinjnders, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Noah Okafor. However, if you ask me, the Rossoneri are thinking more about the UEFA Champions League than the Serie A.

Dark Horses

We must begin with Lazio. The Biancocelesti finished second in the 2022-23 campaign. They conceded 30 goals. Only Napoli conceded less with 28. We’re talking about a well-balanced squad since Ciro Immobile finished among the league’s top scorers with 12 goals.

If Immobile doesn’t sound like enough, since he’s a veteran, keep in mind that they managed to sign Valentin Castellanos and Gustav Isaksen. Both will take a lot of pressure off the 34-year-old striker. The Bianconeri are offering a +1400 price in the sportsbook.

We can’t talk about dark horses without talking about AS Roma. First, Jose Mourinho remains their head coach. You can’t, under any circumstances, underestimate a team coached by Mourinho. Last season, they finished sixth in the Serie A and finished as the runners-up in the UEFA Europa League. They added two very interesting players in Evan Ndicka and Houssem Aouar. The Wolves are +1100.

Finally, there’s Atalanta at +2800. They’ve finished in the top eight in each of the last seven seasons. Plus, they signed two great center-strikers in El Bilal Toure and Gianluca Scamacca. If there’s something you can expect from the Nerazzurri, it’s goals.

To Be Relegated

In Serie A, the last three squads are relegated to Serie B. Last season, Spezia, Cremonese and Sampdoria finished in the relegation zone.

For the upcoming season, Frosinone, Lecce and Verona are the favorites to be relegated at -250, -125 and even money. Curiously enough, Genoa and Cagliari, the other two teams promoted from Serie B alongside Frosinone, aren’t in the top three.

You should also consider teams like Salernitana and Empoli. They finished closer to the relegation zone than the top 10 and are offering very good prices in the soccer lines at +185 and +225.

Golden Boot Race

While Napoli doesn’t come in as the favorites to win the title, its star striker, Victor Osimhen, does remain as the favorite to win the Golden Boot – again – in the upcoming season. Last campaign, the Nigerian won the race with 26 goals, five more than Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan. Osimhen is offering a +175 price while Martinez is +275.

There’s also Immobile. The veteran striker is offering a great price at +800. Keep in mind that he scored 20+ goals in five of the last seven seasons. Plus, last season he missed a lot of games due to injury.

Finally, we’ve two players from AC Milan, and both are offering a +1400 price. We’re talking about Rafael Leao and Noah Okafor. Last season, Leao scored 15 goals despite not being a center-striker. As for Okafor, he scored 10 goals in all competitions with RB Salzburg. He’s only 23 and extremely fast.
