Premier League 2022-23 Darkhorse

Player recruitment has been pretty impressive so far from most of the Big Six clubs in the English Premier League, with the race for a top-four spot becoming harder than ever to judge. Our sportsbook is offering the best markets and bonuses for the Premier League.

  • Manchester United

Manchester United took another concerning step in a backward direction during the 2021-22 campaign, with the Red Devils finishing in sixth place. It had all started so well. When Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United last August, 12 years after leaving for Real Madrid, the team was unbeaten in the Premier League and was eager to fight Manchester City and Liverpool for the domestic title. Instead, United completed their worst season in Premier League history, finishing sixth with 58 points, 35 behind league-winning City.

Ralf Rangnick, the interim manager appointed following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, spoke last week about the lack of team spirit and togetherness. However, with Erik ten Hag now installed as the club’s new manager, everyone is expecting a total rebuild of the squad. Don’t rush to include United in your soccer picks and parlays. Let’s watch for them for the first five or six games and decide how we will approach their games.

All soccer experts in the world doubt that the Red Devils can get anywhere near Man City and Liverpool, who contested last season’s title before Pep Guardiola’s side eventually won on the last day of the campaign. Manchester United has a chance to be the most improved side under ten Hag after last season’s disaster.

The Red Devils have good players with huge potential. Now it’s about getting the potential out of them. The manager no doubt will be given money to spend and how he recruits is key. Four or five experienced players have left the club, which is a good thing.

Their wait for silverware is set to go on to the next campaign under ten Hag, as the Reds have not won any major honors since their UEFA Europa League triumph in 2017 under Jose Mourinho. Manchester United last won the Premier League title almost a decade ago in 2012-13, in what was to be the last season that legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson would spend at the club.

They are priced at +2800 to win the Premier League with the latest soccer odds, which we don’t expect to happen. We do expect them to finish in the top four behind City, Liverpool, and Chelsea. They are priced at +135 to finish in the top four.

  • Arsenal and Tottenham

Arsenal is facing up to a sixth successive season outside of the top four and the Gunners have slipped out to +175 when it comes to bringing that barren continental run to a close. Arsenal hasn’t won the league since 2003-04 and was wildly inconsistent last season, recording 22 wins, three draws and 13 defeats. Only Man City and Liverpool notched more victories, but seven teams recorded fewer defeats.

They have a young squad but they need to find some rhythm if they want to get anywhere near a top-four finish. The recent signings of Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira will help Arsenal’s cause. However, the new additions must hit the ground running if Mikel Arteta’s side is serious about earning a Champions League spot. If you’re betting online, don’t even think about backing Arsenal to win the title or even to earn a top-four finish.

It’s safe to say that Tottenham’s recent transfer business has made many people sit up and take notice. The north London outfit has already signed Richarlison from Everton and Yves Bissouma from Brighton. The free signing of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan is also seen as a big plus. Let’s not forget they have Heung-min Son and Harry Kane in their squad. It is also worth noting that Dejan Kulusevski tore things up throughout the second half of the previous campaign after arriving on loan from Juventus, racking up five goals and eight assists in 18 league games.

Antonio Conte has already won the Premier League with Chelsea so he clearly knows what it takes to win trophies. We don’t expect them to go all the way and lift the trophy, but they have the weapons to finish third behind City and Liverpool. It is well documented that Tottenham hasn’t won the league since 1961, but there is a real feeling of optimism surrounding the club under Conte. He managed to secure a top-four finish for Tottenham at the expense of rivals Arsenal last season and now his aim will be to push on even further.
