EPL Title Race

Arsenal is eight points clear at the top of the table after 28 rounds and is rapidly building an unassailable lead. Yes, the reigning champ Manchester City has a game in hand and the Gunners have to go to the Etihad on April 26. But you would rather have the points on the board, and Arsenal might be even further ahead by then.

After losing to City in the reverse fixture and surrendering the leading spot, much of the talk was about Arsenal falling by the wayside and even being overtaken by third-place Manchester United. But six games later, the Gunners have silenced all of the doubters by being very consistent both at home and on the road.

While Mikel Arteta talked about the disappointment of Arsenal’s Europa League exit, the Spanish coach reflected on the clarity it now gives their season. Defeat to Sporting has only sharpened Arsenal’s focus, and its exit from the Europa League may yet be a defining moment in the title race. Consider Manchester City, who in April is likely to play eight times in three different competitions, so we won’t include it in our soccer picks and parlays.

The FA Cup semi-finals will add to a two-legged Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich, as well as Premier League games against Arsenal and Liverpool that month. With City’s bid to win the Champions League drawing more pressure and demanding more energy year after year, Guardiola’s side could find itself emotionally and physically stretched in a way that harms its title defense.

EPL Top-Four Finish

Liverpool had really started to flex their muscles in the second half of the campaign, and a 7-0 battering of Manchester United moved it to within a touching distance of fourth place. However, the club followed that up with a defeat to Bournemouth, putting Liverpool in a slightly precarious position in sixth.

The Red Devils looked like potential title challengers at one point, but that humiliating defeat put that to bed, and a draw with Southampton threatened its top-four finish objective. But recent results around the club have United looking in firm control of their destiny.

Tottenham completes the top four as things stand, but Newcastle is the team in control, just two points behind Antonio Conte’s men with two games in hand, so if you’re betting online, you should fade Tottenham. Spurs fans have been left fuming with Antonio Conte appearing to back down in his criticism of the board. Not only did the manager criticize his team, but he also appeared to take a swipe at owner Daniel Levy, questioning why the club has failed to win major trophies under his stewardship.

EPL Relegation Battle

Crystal Palace, Wolves, Leeds, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Leicester, West Ham, Bournemouth, and Southampton all find themselves within four points of one another at the bottom of the Premier League and in danger of dropping into the Championship next season.

Southampton is sitting at the bottom of the table, and of course, the Saints are favorites to go down, priced at -225 according to the latest soccer odds. Palace remains one of only two sides yet to win a league match in England’s top four tiers in 2023, prompting manager Patrick Viera to lose his job last week, but it remains three points above the red zone.

Despite sitting three points above the danger zone, Wolves‘ recent form has been inconsistent. Quite simply, you do not know which version of Julen Lopetegui’s side will materialize week in and week out. Leeds’ recovery under new manager Javi Gracia is beginning to bear fruit. The club has won two of its previous four Premier League fixtures under the Spaniard, as many victories as it managed in its previous 20 beforehand.

Everton will have to strive on without main striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has suffered a setback in his return from injury, but the club added five points to its season tally in the last three games and we expect it to secure its spot in the top-flight league.
