Serie A Betting: AS Roma Rolling Over Competition

When Daniele De Rossi took charge of AS Roma in January, the team occupied ninth place following a shambolic run of form over the previous month. Now, apart from a 4-2 loss to league leaders Inter, Roma has won their first five league matches under De Rossi, and they’re a surefire addition to your Serie A soccer betting picks.

After edging Hellas Verona and Salernitana 2-1, Roma thrashed Cagliari 4-0, with Lorenzo Pellegrini finding the back of the net for the third straight match and Paulo Dybala scoring a brace, before taking care of business with a 3-0 win at Frosinone. Dybala closed out February by scoring a hat-trick against Torino in a 3-2 win. The Argentine has scored 11 goals – only Olivier Giroud (12), Dusan Vlahovic (15), and Lautaro Martinez (22) have scored more in the league – and we’re backing him to find the back of the net once again on Saturday in our Serie A player prop bets.

Having reached European finals in the past two seasons under Jose Mourinho, Roma looks poised for another deep run, facing off against Feyenoord for the third straight year and drawing 1-1. The match went to penalties, where Lukaku squandered the third spot-kick of the shootout, only for Mile Svilar to save two in a row and lead Roma to a 4-2 win.

Once hyped as one of the most promising goalkeepers in Europe, the Serbia international has spent the vast majority of the past seven years on the bench at Benfica and Roma, but ever since taking over between the sticks for Rui Patricio following their defeat to Inter, he has repaid De Rossi’s trust and played a key role in their resurgence. He’s another reason why we’re backing Roma to come away with a victory in Monza in our Serie A soccer predictions.

Can Anyone Stop Roma From Scoring?

Monza is coming off an impressive run of form, avoiding defeat in each of their last five matches and ending February with a 4-2 win vs. Milan and a 2-0 win at Salernitana. Still, they could have a tough time stopping a Roma side that has scored 2+ goals in each of their first six league matches. The odds are fairly balanced, with Roma coming in as slight favorites at +110 in contrast to Monza (+255), and it means there’s great value available. If you’re planning to bet on Italian soccer this weekend, bet on Roma taking care of business with a win at Stadio Brianteo.

Over the past three months, Monza has conceded two goals to Juventus, Frosinone, and Milan, three to Empoli and Milan, and five to Inter, and there’s reason to believe that their defense could have another tough day at the office. Between Lukaku, Dybala, and Pellegrini, Roma has more than enough weapons to overpower Monza and come away with yet another victory.
