The COVID-19 situation all over the world has disarmed pretty much all professional sports competitions schedules, including the ones for the top European soccer leagues. Now, we have games every three-four days, and some players are starting to resent such workload.
Let’s take a look at what has happened recently and how the sports betting odds to win the top European soccer leagues (English Premier League, Italian Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1) have changed.
Premier League (England)
- Reigning champions: Liverpool
- Current First Place: Liverpool
Last weekend, all English Premier League teams played for the FA Cup. The favorites, including Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City, won without any trouble, but things over the English Premier League are tighter than ever.
Liverpool remain at the top with 33 points, but the “Reds” lost their last game against Southampton, giving Manchester United the opportunity to climb to first place if they manage to beat Burnley (rescheduled game on Tuesday, January 12); they could reach 36 points.
Liverpool will play host to Manchester United next Sunday. That should be fun.
Leicester City remain in third place with 32 points; they have won just two of their last five games. They are followed by Tottenham, Manchester City, Southampton and Everton, all with 29 points, but Tottenham and Everton have played one game less than Liverpool, while Manchester City have played two games less.
Chelsea have lost three of their last five games, and now they’re in ninth place with 26 points. Arsenal have emerged from the ashes winning their last three games, but that’s good enough for eleventh place with just 23 points.
To Be Relegated
Sheffield United managed to win in the FA Cup, but they remain winless over the English Premier League. The “Pirates” are in last place with just two points.
Albion (eight points) and Fulham (11 points) also remain in the relegation zone, while Brighton are just three points away.
