Reviewing the Top Five Leagues Heading into March

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are breaking all kinds of records while increasing their advantage at the top of the English Premier League. The rest of the top European soccer leagues still have some drama at the top and plenty of action left.

Let’s take a look at what has happened recently, and how the sports betting odds to win the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 have changed.

Premier League (England)

  • Reigning champions: Liverpool
  • Current First Place: Manchester City

Manchester City haven’t lost in their last 27 games (all competitions), while winning their last 20 (also all competitions). Regarding the English Premier League, they have won their last 14 games in a row, more recently they beat the surprising West Ham United 2-1.

The “Citizens” (62 points) have scored 52 goals (second best in the league) and have allowed just 16 (best in the league). Right now, they have a 12-point advantage over Manchester United who sit in second place.

Last Sunday, Manchester United drew once again. The “Red Devils” and Chelsea drew 0-0, giving Manchester United their third draw in the last five English Premier League games.

Leicester City (third place with 49 points) lost against Arsenal (3-1), giving Manchester City even more room to relax.

Other Contenders

Chelsea are in fifth place with 44 points, while Liverpool returned to the winning column after beating Sheffield United 2-0 and now are in sixth place with 43 points. Sadio Mane, one of Liverpool’s best players, said that the “Reds” have no chance of winning the title.

To Be Relegated

Sheffield United lost their last four games in a row to remain at the bottom of the English Premier League with just 11 points. They scored just 15 goals (the worst in the league).

Albion (17 points) and Fulham (23 points) are also in the relegation zone. Brighton and Newcastle, both with 26 points, edge dangerously close to relegation, with neither have won in the last three games.

Next Best Games

There will be several midweek games, but Thursday’s Liverpool vs Chelsea match is the most appealing.

Next weekend, Manchester City will play host to Manchester United, while Tottenham will play host to Crystal Palace. Chelsea will play on Monday against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

English Premier League Title Odds

Manchester City remains the huge favorite at the odds to win the English Premier League with a -1600 value. They’re followed by Manchester United at +2000, Liverpool at +2500, and Leicester City at +5000.

Right now, some powerhouses such as Chelsea and Tottenham are offering a +10000 and +15000 value.

Serie A (Italy)

  • Reigning champions: Juventus
  • Current First Place: Inter Milan

Inter Milan won again, 3-0 against Genoa, to remain at the top of the Italian Serie A with a four-point advantage over AC Milan. Inter Milan won their last five games in a row and have scored a league-best 60 goals.

AC Milan returned to the winning column after two consecutive losses. They beat AS Roma 1-2 to remain six points away from Juventus (drew 1-1 against Hellas Verona), but Juventus have played one game less than both Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Atalanta have won their last three games in a row and now share third place with Juventus (both have 46 points). AS Roma complete the top five with 44 points, winning just two of their last five games.

Relegation

Both Crotone and Parma have five straight games without winning. That’s why they’re at the bottom of the Italian Serie A with 12 and 15 points.

Cagliari (just one victory in their last five games) complete the relegation zone; they have 18 points, two less than Torino.

Next Best Games

AC Milan will play host to Udinese next Wednesday, while Inter Milan will be on the road against Parma on Thursday.

Next weekend, Juventus will play host to Lazio, and Inter Milan will be returning home to face Atalanta (what a game!).

Odds to Win the Serie A Title

As expected, Inter Milan remain at the top of the odds to win the Serie A with -500 odds. Juventus come next with a +600 value, while AC Milan fell to third place with a +1000 price.

La Liga (Spain)

  • Reigning champions: Real Madrid
  • Current First Place: Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid returned to the winning column with a 2-0 victory against Villarreal. Atletico Madrid won just two of their last five La Liga games, but they own first place with 58 points, and they have played one game less than Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-0 on the road, making it 15 consecutive La Liga games without losing Barcelona. Barcelona have scored 55 goals (best in the league), and Lionel Messi is having another great season.

Real Madrid can be three points away from Atletico Madrid, but first, they need to beat Real Sociedad (Monday afternoon). Real Madrid and Levante are the only teams that have beat Atletico Madrid during the current season.

Sevilla fell to fourth place with 48 points.

At the Bottom

S.D. Huesca haven’t lost in their last two games, but that’s not good enough, they still are in last place with 20 points. Elche (21 points) and Deportivo Alaves (22 points) complete the relegation zone, but there are several teams dangerously close to the relegation zone, including Valladolid (22 points), Eibar (22 points), and Cadiz (25 points).

Next Weekend Best Games

Next weekend’s action begins on Friday with Valencia vs. Villarreal.

On Saturday, Osasuna will play host to Barcelona, while on Sunday Atletico Madrid will play host to Real Madrid in a huge game in both teams’ title hopes.

La Liga Top Scorers

La Liga Title Odds

Atletico Madrid remain as the favorite at the odds to win La Liga, but their value went from -250 to -163. They’re followed by Real Madrid at +300 and Barcelona at +400.

Sevilla and Real Sociedad transformed into dark horses with a +2500 and +5000 value.

Bundesliga (Germany)

  • Reigning champions: Bayern Munich
  • Current First Place: Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich returned to the winning column in order to remain at the top of the Bundesliga. They crushed Koln 5-1, and now they have 52 points, two more than RB Leipzig who beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-2. Bayern Munich haven’t lost in their last five Bundesliga games.

Wolfsburg haven’t lost in their last five games and they’re in third place with 45 points. They also own the best defensive unit in the league after allowing just 19 goals in 23 games.

Frankfurt lost 2-1 against Werder Bremen and fell to fourth place with 42 points, three more than Borussia Dortmund, who beat Arminia 3-0 and now are in fifth place. Frankfurt haven’t lost in their last three games.

What about Relegation?

Schalke 04 lost again (5-1 against Stuttgart) to remain at the bottom of the Bundesliga with just nine points. They have won just one of 23 games.

Mainz 05 complete the relegation zone with 17 points, but there are two teams with just one point more: Arminia and Hertha Berlin.

Next Weekend Best Games

The Bundesliga action will begin on Friday with Schalke 04 vs Mainz 05.

On Saturday, RB Leipzig will be on the road to face Freiburg, and Borussia Monchengladbach will play host to Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich will collide with Borussia Dortmund, also on Saturday.

Bundesliga Title Odds

No changes here, Bayern Munich dominate the odds to win the Bundesliga with a -3300 value. They’re followed by RB Leipzig at +1400, Borussia Dortmund at +10000, and Wolfsburg at +15000.

Ligue 1 (France)

  • Reigning champions: PSG
  • Current First Place: LOSC Lille

LOSC Lille have won just one of their last three games, but they remain at the top of the Ligue 1 with 59 points. More recently, they drew 1-1 against Strasbourg.

PSG returned to the winning column after beating Dijon 4-0 and climbed to second place with 57 points. The reigning champions have scored 61 goals (best in the league) and they have allowed 17 (best in the league alongside LOSC Lille).

Lyon drew 1-1 against Marseille and fell to third place with 56 points. AS Monaco won again, 2-0 against Stade Brestois, and now sits in fourth place with 55 points. Literally, anything can happen in Ligue 1!

Last Two

Dijon have lost their last five games in a row, and they’re at the bottom of the Ligue 1 with just 15 points, nine less than Nantes.

Nimes and Lorient are dangerously close to the relegation zone with 25 and 26 points.

Next Best Games

Midweek, Lyon will play host to Rennes, LOSC Lille to Marseille, and Bordeaux to PSG.

No games are scheduled for next Weekend.
