Mbappe is listed at +3500 in the latest soccer odds to win the Ballon d’Or, well behind favorites Lionel Messi (-190) and Erling Haaland (+110).

Mbappe has sparked one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer. The PSG star has reportedly decided against triggering the option in his contract to extend his stay past 2024.
The French giants run the risk of losing him on a free transfer at the end of next season due to clubs outside of France being open to agreeing on a pre-contract deal with him in January. After spending over $190 million to acquire his services back in 2017, the French giants will likely want to recoup some of that.
Mbappe claims he told PSG he wasn’t going to extend his contract beyond 2024 last year in a strong response to a private letter leak. Mbappe said the club has been aware of this situation for almost 12 months. The French striker regrets that the receipt of this letter was broadcast to the media. Meanwhile, PSG believes Mbappe leaked the letter on purpose to force a move this summer. They believe he is being ungrateful and want to sell him as soon as possible.
Mbappe’s Next Team
Real Madrid announced the departure of their long-serving striker Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia and is now in the market to find a capable replacement. Mbappe has won every domestic trophy available in France on multiple occasions but has yet to earn a Champions League winners’ medal. A move to Madrid is logical, with the Spanish giants being the competition’s most successful club. They are considered favorites to land Mbappe.
Manchester United is among the top clubs with a shot at landing Mbappe. However, they’re unable to sign any players because they have no idea who will own the club ahead of next season. If Qatar does manage to win the bid and can purchase the club, that leaves the Red Devils with a huge chance of capturing the Frenchman.
It looks like Chelsea is determined to play a game of cat and mouse with Mbappe. Todd Boehly is playing the not-interested party in this one, but reports in England say differently. The Blues are considered third favorites to sign Mbappe.
PSG’s position appears to be that they will not allow Mbappe to leave for free in 2024, which will be the case if he stays one more year without agreeing on a new deal, so expect him to leave this summer.
