History for Ajax, Tottenham and Inter

Back in 2008, Ajax spent €1m on a 16-year-old Eriksen, beating Chelsea and Barcelona to the punch. Coaches at Ajax identified the fact that Eriksen had a “terrible” running style when he arrived. He was one of the quickest learners and he was very determined. First-team football brought 113 appearances, 25 goals, and three straight Eredivisie titles. He would move on to Spurs in 2013. But a decade from his arrival in Amsterdam, Eriksen has grown into the player Ajax thought he might be.

The 2018-19 season saw Eriksen become only the second player in history to record 10 or more assists in four consecutive Premier League seasons. The first was David Beckham. The Spurs also had a fantastic Champions League run, making it all the way to the final in Madrid. Unfortunately, they came up against a very strong Liverpool outfit and lost the game 1-0. The 2019-20 season was the last year on Eriksen’s Spurs contract, and while he was still committed to the team, he was actively looking for a move elsewhere.

In 2020, Serie A’s Inter Milan agreed to a $20m fee with Tottenham to sign the Denmark international. The move brings to an end Eriksen’s lengthy tenure with Spurs, which began in 2013. He helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League final before expressing a desire to leave north London during the summer. His first league title since his Ajax days came in the 2020-21 season, as Inter won the Serie A crown for the first time in 11 years. And we remember that perfectly because we’ve made some great profit having Inter in our soccer picks and parlays.

Eriksen with Denmark

Eriksen made his international debut in February 2010, becoming the fourth-youngest Danish debutant of all time and the youngest since Michael Laudrup. Since then, he has become a vital part of his national side. He was announced as part of the 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup, making him the youngest player at the tournament at the age of 18. In 2011, Eriksen became the youngest Danish player ever to score in European qualification, beating Laudrup’s record by nine days. It was his first goal for the national team.

His role during their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign was huge as he scored eight goals, leading his team to a playoff against the Republic of Ireland. The Danes drew the home game 0-0, but they won 5-1 in Dublin, with an Eriksen hat trick securing their place in Russia. Denmark had a fairly successful competition, making it out of the group stage to the Round of 16, where they lost to eventual finalists Croatia.

He earned 115 international caps for Denmark, scoring 38 goals. During the Euro 2020 clash against Finland, Eriksen collapsed on the pitch having suffered a cardiac arrest. His heart had stopped beating and, according to Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen, he “was gone.” His return to football is astonishing. Inter Milan and Eriksen agreed to cancel his contract in December because players fitted with an ICD cannot compete in Serie A.

The former Spurs midfielder helped turn Brentford‘s season around after signing on deadline day in January, providing four assists across his six-month stint, and was a key man in the demolition of Chelsea. Back in March, Eriksen was named in Denmark’s squad for the first time since his cardiac arrest. Denmark qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by finishing top of their group with 27 points from 10 games, four points clear of runners-up Scotland.

The Dane has joined Manchester United on a free transfer after a short, but influential, spell at fellow Premier League club Brentford. If you’re betting online, you should expect him to offer many assists for his teammates. He’s more of an attacking type of player, but he’s disciplined, he does work hard for the team and he gets back into the right areas. For set plays, it’s going to be a nice mixture with Bruno Fernandes and Eriksen. There’s a lot of quality there and hopefully, that will show.

World Cup 2022 Expectations

Eriksen has made it clear that it was his intention to return to playing football as he wanted to represent Denmark at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Eriksen was called up for Denmark’s pair of friendlies during the March international window, a critical step in returning to the fold for the winter World Cup. Since returning to play, Eriksen has not only been a feel-good story but a key contributor as well.

Denmark was drawn into Group D together with France, Tunisia and Australia. The Danes are second favorites to win the group, priced at +300 with the latest soccer odds. They are also 10th favorites to go all the way and lift the trophy at +2800. They will kick off their campaign on Nov. 22 against Tunisia.
