World Cup 2022: Spain’s Under The Radar Players

Elite Talent

Spain has the most talented squad in the world. Their option of selecting players for the World Cup has a pile of names associated with elite clubs in Europe. Our sportsbook is offering a great range of betting markets and props for the World Cup.

Gavi Paez: Barcelona

Gavi is rapidly becoming more than one to watch, even though the Barcelona midfielder is just 18 years old. He made his senior Blaugrana bow in August and finished the 2021-22 season with six assists in 47 games. The Seville native also played his first of 10 Spain caps in October. He is part of Barcelona’s starting lineup and an important piece in Xavi Hernandez’s puzzle.

Spain manager Luis Enrique has started Gavi in eight of his Roja appearances as well, and saw Barcelona’s sensation score his first goal against the Czech Republic back in June. It made him the youngest ever player to score, as well as feature, for Spain. Afterward, Enrique was exuberant with praise for Gavi.

Despite having played top-flight football for just one season, Gavi has become a vital member of Spain’s squad. He is a player with a great personality and enviable physical qualities with Spain’s style of play. We expect him to help his country at the World Cup. He is the symbol of Spain’s new generation, which will try to win their second World Cup title in Qatar.

Pedri Gonzalez: Barcelona

After two years at Camp Nou, the teenager has a new shirt number and follows in the footsteps of some impressive Blaugrana legends. Pedri has been confirmed as Barcelona’s new No. 8 for the 2022-23 season, with the teenage superstar taking the shirt made famous by club Andres Iniesta for the upcoming campaign.

The 19-year-old, who moved to the Catalan giants from Las Palmas in 2020, has enjoyed two great campaigns for the club even as they have struggled domestically, establishing himself as a mainstay at both domestic and international level for Spain. He participated in both the 2020 European Championship, as well as the Olympic Games, in the same summer. He impressed last year at Euro 2020, helping Spain reach the semifinal stage of the competition.

He earned 12 international caps and he’s definitely expected to make the cut and play with Spain at the World Cup. Pedri was the youngest player in the history of the European Championships to make an appearance in the competition’s last eight. The midfielder also holds the record for being the youngest player to start a Euro knockout game. If you’re betting online, Barcelona is definitely a team to watch as they are fighting for both the domestic league title and the Champions League trophy.

Marc Cucurella: Chelsea

Marc Cucurella’s move from Brighton to Chelsea was officially sealed with Spain’s international already earning his starting XI role. The 24-year-old started 35 games in his debut Premier League season. His performances helped Brighton finish in ninth place to set a club record. He wanted the opportunity of playing Champions League football with a view to accelerating his progress to Spain’s World Cup squad.

Cucurella is a left-sided player, featuring at wing-back and more centrally in a back three for Brighton last season, as well as at left-back in a back four. He has represented Spain at the senior international level just once but holds the unique honor of having captained the side on his debut. He has represented Spain at several youth levels, including getting a silver medal at the Olympic Games, as the Under-23s reached the final a month after his senior debut.

Spain’s World Cup Expectations

The experience that Spain has at the international level can surely help them have a deep tournament. They have a more balanced team than any other World Cup squad. A moderate amount of players in each and every position, a great pace, amazing creativity and eagerness could well push them to win the trophy.

They were drawn into Group E together with Germany, Japan and Costa Rica and they are priced at +170 to reach the semifinals according to the latest soccer odds. They will kick off their tournament against Costa Rica and they are huge favorites to win it, priced at -425 on the three-way moneyline.

He knows everything about the top five European leagues, Champions League and Europa League, and is well known for his “trademark” Alex Classic bet — both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in the match. He’s very disciplined, following a strict set of rules and having a great bankroll management. He’s our Bundesliga guest and he's having an average of 55 units of profit in the last 7 years with his soccer picks. He’s all about positive energy, respect and long-term profit. If you ever hear “Alex’s last-minute goal” that means he did it again, winning a bet in the last minute of the game — so never lose hope.
