Sunday’s football game at Estadio de Los Juegos Mediterraneos pits Almeria and Real Sociedad, two teams sitting in the opposite halves of the table. Take advantage of the best betting odds and La Liga props by using our sportsbook.
Almeria: Decent on Home Soil
Almeria is currently 13th in the La Liga table, having picked up 17 points from their opening 15 matches of the 2022-23 campaign. Los Rojiblancos won last season’s Segunda Division to secure a return to this level and are bidding to make it back-to-back campaigns in Spain’s top flight for the first time since 2015.
Rubi’s side was also knocked out of the Copa del Rey before the season was halted for the World Cup, suffering a 2-0 loss to Arenteiro on Nov. 13. They returned from the World Cup break with an important 1-1 draw against relegation-threatened Cadiz.
Almeria was perhaps the biggest unknown after the conclusion of the transfer window. They’ve made a relatively bright start to the season, but the deadline day sale of star striker Umar Sadiq and the addition of young players, who are unproven at this level, leaves more questions than answers.
Seven of their summer signings are aged 20 or under, and the team will need a few of them to step up their game in 2023 if they are to avoid being sucked into the thick of the relegation battle.
Ivan Martos remains a long-term absentee due to an ACL injury. Centre-back Rodrigo Ely served his suspension last weekend against Cadiz and will return to the starting lineup on Sunday. Almeria’s home form this season has been impressive, so if you’re betting online, you should start considering them.
Real Sociedad: Superb Season
Despite spending over $50m on new signings this summer, Real Sociedad recouped all that and more in one sale as Alexander Isak departed for Newcastle. As talented as he is, the Swede only netted six goals in La Liga last term, so in the short-term, Real Sociedad may feel it is in a better place with Umar Sadiq making a bright start to his Spanish top-flight career and Brais Mendez also settling in nicely.
The White and Blues have not finished fourth in Spain’s top flight since the 2012-13 season, while they have not been higher than fourth since claiming second in 2002-03, so this could be a historic campaign. They are sitting third in the standings with 29 points earned in 15 games and enter this clash on the back of two wins in a row.
The Basques are eager to stay in the Champions League berth and given their fine away record we expect them to extend their brilliant run of form and return home with the three points, so we will include them in our soccer picks and parlays. Real Sociedad is again expected to miss Carlos Fernandez, Martin Merquelanz, and Mikel Oyarzabal through injury for this weekend’s contest.
Almeria vs Real Sociedad Head-to-Head
Only Real Madrid and Barcelona have won more La Liga matches than Real Sociedad this term. Almería has failed to win over half of their league games but still enjoys its second-best ever top-flight points return after 15 games, behind only a 19-point haul at the same stage of 2007-08 when they secured an eighth-place finish.
History suggests it will likely be an entertaining affair either way, as both teams have scored at least twice in the last three top-flight head-to-heads. Sociedad won five of their seven away fixtures this season, scoring 12 goals in the process.

Almeria vs Real Sociedad Picks and Prediction
The visitors enter this clash as favorites priced at -105 on the three-way moneyline according to the latest soccer odds, while the goal line is set at 2½.
Real Sociedad scored at least two goals in three of the last four away matches in the Spanish top-flight league, but Almeria won its previous home games. The best thing here is to avoid the moneyline and focus on the goals market. We expect an entertaining clash between the two teams, so we are backing the over.
